The Pearl PH-03 is an analog phaser effect pedal designed for use with electric guitar. It has a 1/4 inch input and output and is not a rack mountable unit as it is a stomp box unit.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Pearl PH-03 is quite easy to follow as it just has four knobs controlling different parameters. There is a knob for manual, for depth, for speed, and for feedback. Each parameters allows for a good amount of tone control over your signal and will provide you with endless amounts of different sounding phase shifting effects. It is quite easy to edit the sound as everything is there for you to control and there are no tricks or surprises. I don't have the manual for the Pearl PH-03 so I can't say how helpful or not it is, but the pedal is easy to use and you probably don't need it if you have any experience with guitar pedals.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the Pearl PH-03 isn't great, but it is usable. I wouldn't use this pedal for recording, as I don't think the sound quality is up to par, but it is a suitable pedal for practicing or live shows in my opinion. It is a great pedal to get your feet wet with phasing effects and to try out different sounds to see what types of sounds suit your tastes. I usually use the Pearl PH-03 with a Fender Strat and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb, so I am certainly getting an accurate representation of what the pedal sounds like. While it does have a decent sound, there are a ton of other phaser pedals that I would rather use.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Pearl PH-03 for a few years and after a little while of using I stopped using it all together because I decided the sound quality wasn't up to that of some of the other pedals that are being offered today. I like the way it is laid out, but to me nothing can really salvage a sub par sound quality. If you are looking for a semi cheap phaser pedals, I would suggest looking elsewhere at pedals like the Boss PH-3 and others, as there are a ton of options out there better than this on.
