There are many pre-amps in this configuration, but the Q-5 is trssduisant because in addition to its quality-price ratio that I Defines a beat, the sound quality is largely the height of other similar products which I will not say the brand.
The Q-5 work in my homestudio three years now and it rpond Fully what is asked: return !!!!! with the possibility to go deaf or greatly or modestly apprcier the incoming signal. :-) The interface is probably by far its greatest strength, no need to leave St-Cyr to use the Q-5. It is regrettable that the entries are in 6.35mm jack like the carcass of the half-rack module which seems a bit ... lgre however, a fact and this is absolutely not the musician…

In this range of products there are not thousands. I used to be a Behringer, then I tried a Lem to finally opt for a Q-5 I knew well before and who are all doing dj unanimously.
Should I repeat that choice? Well if I had not enough of "tunes" to change the speed suprieure that costs as we know much more expensive, then''Yes'', the Q-5 fareit new party of my PRIORITIES s purchase.

Morales "Samson Grave!" (C) copyrignt of course :-) (smile)

This is what I use as a headset amplifier now instead of the Fostex PH-50 (who had passed away after only one year of use). It works perfect ^ ^ Especially when the cable jack TRS balanced, so there, what fish! ^____________^

At first I thought this unit had no ON / OFF (This happens on some studio equipment), but ultimately, it is off to a minimum by lowering the adjustment knob on the level of entry: it's a little low-end FM radio but other than that, nothing to say :-)))))

It is true that there is no possibility to adjust the treble, bass, balance, etc via headphones, like some other competitors can do but it is not the same Cathegory devices. First, its small size prevents it from…

It is true that there is no possibility to adjust the treble, bass, balance, etc via headphones, like some other competitors can do but it is not the same Cathegory devices. First, its small size prevents it from having these settings simply for lack of space and then it depends on what you search: a receiver monitoring headphones (which sound is neutral) or headset amplifier distribution (which should provide flexibility to control users).

    Strengths, in my opinion:

    1 / 2 rack width :-)))

    Input and output jack TRS

Opportunity to listen in stereo or mono in the headphones

Connectivity minimum, just enough, no frills.

    Weaknesses, still in my opinion:

No leads Peak prevents saturate when the inputs (damage)

Opportunity to listen in stereo or mono in the headphones, of course, but not to the output jacks of the device: the sound always comes out in stereo. It is a shame because we sometimes need to listen to the sounds in mono on the speaker monitoring (when you plug the amp behind the Q5).

    It heats a lot ... :-(((

Slight buzz, but almost inaudible (to me, he has had some time to perceive me ^ ^)

I hope this Q5 me last longer than the Fostex PH-50 that I had before! :-)))

Apart from the Fostex, its closest competitor is the PreSonus HP4, which provides for four headphone outputs 1 / 3 rack only :-)))

Samson Audio's Q5 is a simple, five channel headphone amplifier box to be used in the recording studio. It's a really basic box, but it's definitely nice that it has five channels, as it can be a one stop shop for headphones in a smaller recording studio. We've got one of these in one of the smaller studios in the studio complex where I work, and never even really need to use all five of the channels. On the front panel of the Q5, it's got five channels each with a 1/4" input for your headphones and a volume knob for each. It also has a button to choose either a mono or stereo feed, and an input volume knob. In the back it's got two sets of 1/4" connections - one stereo set for your in…

In the back it's got two sets of 1/4" connections - one stereo set for your inputs, and one stereo set for stereo linking. It's also got it's own power supply. The whole box is pretty small as well, and would definitely be easy to move from place to place if you wanted to. While five channels may not be necessary for home studios, if you're looking for a cheap enough option to have some extra channels just in case, this is probably the way to go. It won't change the sound quality at all, or at least it shouldn't in theory. Even if it isn't the cleanest signal, it's fine for monitoring during recording. Again, I'm not sure that five channels is really necessary in a small box like this, but it's nice to have anyway. There are a lot of headphone boxes to choose from, but not too many with five channels at this price. If you're looking for something with more flexibility per channel, this probably isn't the box for you, but if you're looking for quantity in terms of channels in a headphone box at a reasonable price, the Q5 is the perfect choice...

I bought this thing a while ago because I was starting to get into recording a bit more, and wanted to be able to record small groups with multiple people recording at once. To do that properly, you need to have a headphone amp or enough headphone outputs that everyone can listen in to what they are overdubbing and also to hear eachother. For the money this thing is unbeatable. Samson always delivers amazing value, even though their products aren't the best. For 50 dollars you get the ability to have 5 stereo headphone outputs coming from one single stereo input. The connectors are all standard 1/4" audio cables, so make sure you have headphones with this larger connector type, or…

For the money this thing is unbeatable. Samson always delivers amazing value, even though their products aren't the best. For 50 dollars you get the ability to have 5 stereo headphone outputs coming from one single stereo input. The connectors are all standard 1/4" audio cables, so make sure you have headphones with this larger connector type, or that they have converter tips which you can pick up very cheaply at your local electronics store. There is a separate volume knob for each one of the headphone outputs, which is very nice since people want to be able to set their own levels. In addition to that, there is also a control for the stereo input level. This is handy if you want to turn everyone up or down all at once. It also has a mono summing feature, although I will say that I have never really found a use for that. Maybe if you have a pair of headphones with one ear broken, that would come in handy. The sound quality on the headphone channels is definitely kind of noisy and a little bit degraded. These are not top quality signal paths. However since these are probably only used for monitoring, it's doubtful that that really matters. For $50, it's hard to go wrong too. Good value even though the headphones sound a little dirty. I've since upgraded this piece of gear but it served me well while I had it.
