I play metal for over 15 years.
I played on guitars with pickups (neck position), DiMarzio paf pro, evolution of Seymour Duncan and all are very good microphones.
but since I'm on EMG, I have a more airy, straighter, more accurate one more tightening grain and velvety on the solos that I love!
parcontre it gives the impression of being more concise (less than the EMG 81) ... watch this is not necessarily obvious!
for the price, the EMG 85 is a very valuable and its reputation is more to do!
