I've used the number of years and there's a few years I bought a lamp is in fact the only I understood the difference between a good and a bad amp.

this amp must be taken for what it is a 80W transistor ideal when you start a group but quickly shows its limits if you're picky or demanding on the sound. even a scratch a sound fade over 1500 euro. anything that is put before scratching or indeed, even quality of this amp acts as a filter and let out a sound rather flat.

The Valvestate amps are a generation of scratch appeared in the 90's, an amp that often make the rounds of cafés of its wheat. For its current price, it is worth more than that.

Combo 80 Watts transistor pre-amp tube.
On the facade, there are from left to right:
Channel clean / crunch equation with gain and 3-band channel overdrive (OD1/OD2) with its own volume, 3 band Eq's, its knobs gain and contour, effects loop with a volume, with a reverb its volume, and the overall volume of the amp, followed by a line-out exit.
The amp comes with a footswitch, to move from one channel to another and control the reverb.

It's an old amp, so no other modeling and simulation models (I think it's crap anyway). No other purpose than the reverb, too bad, I would not have been against a chorus like the models above.

UTILIZATION

OVERALL OPINION

I bought mine in '95, it is still like new. At the time it would be cheap (1600-1800 francs I think). I love the simplicity of the setting, the independence of the channel overdrive. The effects loop is also useful.

I bought it to replace my Fender Champion 110, a good little amp, but less suited to what I was playing at the time. I tested the 8040 (40W) and 8240 (2x40W), my favorite, but I had not expected to have the means to buy; damage, it has a much better dispersion, but apparently it ages much less. My 8080 has never had any crachouillé or weakness. In addition it is a real tank. Level reliability, I have rarely seen better.

In short, it's a great amp for playing at home. It's safe, it is tough, it is easy to operate. Certainly it's a little breath, the overdrive has nothing to do with a tube amp and the sound is picked up a little, but it's not a good amp again.

I bought this amp qq Annes ago .. And I do not understand why this amp is so poorly ct! I personally find this amp HUGE! Obviously should not compare a Mesa Boogie all tube but it's not the same budget not more .. I test a lot better amp cts and easily 2x most expensive are not worth a nail ct daemon vs 8080!

Powerful enough for a lil concert: watch the channel distortion tends to bcp from the ds too acute a high volume .. easily corrected by putting the knob trebble close to zero-..

Recess I would do this choice because this amp is terrible!

Amplification hybrid transistors + 1 lamp, 80W, HP Eminence.
Two channels: one clean (super simple) and a foot switchable Boost. The BOOST has two switchable channels on the receiver share the same EQ. In addition to the classic Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble and Volume, it possde a knob "contour" that can change the sound (bah yes ^ ^).
For connectivity, it includes one between a line out, footswitch output and an effects loop.

I use this amp for 5 years. In the era I had bought a guitar player who used it to register (yes ...). He never made default, and never fails, even with the beers he drank with us, and I fell on it in my loft (just two pots of casss).
What I like about this amp is its wide range of sounds. It's not all prs.
What I like least is the sound that comes out dirty, especially high volume, rverb I find sometimes not so good (personal opinion, most of my friends kiffent the reverb).
In the era, I tried many amps, but mostly Marshalls MG. So it seemed to have the superb sound.
The report is correct qualitprix no more. They are found today for less than 100 euros OCCAZ, and was worth it for a first amp. But by being part of a first amplifier, it is better to move to something else.

Trs simple, never needed the manual. It apprcie contour button that allows the true model intuitively sound.
The effects loop is very useful to avoid any parasitic noise effects if one branch.
Reverb standard anything.

I play with a team of custom Fender Seymour Duncan, a Korg AX3000G, a BOSS DS2, a Wahwah Dunlop, a compressor and a BOSS Metal Zone BOSS also.
The clean sound is OK (a little too my taste but it is crystalline sense be an advantage) but the advantage is really the distortion thanks to the lamp sends prampli pt !
Sounds Marshall for cheap!
Reverb not bad.
Power is correct for RPET or concert (small room or the corner bar).

OVERALL OPINION

Two Les Paul, a Tokai p90 and climbs up an Epiphone double splitable. Level effects, I use an Xotic BB Preamp into overdrive, and some others from time to time (see my profile), but mainly the BB.

- What kind of sound you get and with what rglages ("crystalline", "bold ",....)? Submitted Until I do that I used the clean channel (transistor), with BB for crunches. I rgl channel boost Metal hairy spot well, history of DLIR. Now, I use the boost channel in the clear (OD1 and gain below one third) and yum is more alive! I redcouvre the light of the amp, and I look forward to test it as a group!
But more gnrale Manir, the transistor is not bad clean, a little too right, the crunch switch gives a cool sound, halfway between the clean and saturated lgre, a little a comparable amp lamp begins to saturate. Not bad.
The OD1 is purely in the tradition of vintage, the gain is quite progressive. The OD2 is much more violent. Finally, the contour knob can sound quite varied depending on what one seeks.

Pay 150, I find the ratio Q / P not bad at all. Sr good well, compares what is now, but it has Exceeds still a good amp for playing in groups with little to cabbage (personally I dtest things too complicated, everything modlisation and all, not my thing)

A year ago, with the budget that I era, so no hsiter. At present, I could put more, I would take a nine amp, lamps I think. I personally think now change to an Orange amp AD30TC, but it is not at all the same price range.

I put a 8: this amp I dpann when I needed it, even gives me the urge to play the guitar, and allowed me to play in a band with friends, which is enjoyable. Why on earth would you need 80 watts of this amp is beyond me? This amp sounds terrible. It is sort of a hybrid amp with a preamp tube ECC83 in the preamp section. This is to get people who know that tube amps sound better in the digital solid state stuff. This amp can only sound processed with a voicing of tubes. You need the power tubs to make it feel like a real tube amp. he preamp tube is simple more for voicing and preamp gain. The real part of a tube amp is the interaction between the preamp tubes and power tubes and the feeling that they create between each other.

8080: 80 Watt COMBO. Channel Selection Description

CHANNEL 1 (Normal)
1. Input Jack - Connects the guitar to the amplifier.
2. Gain Control - Controls the gain level of the normal channel on both Clean and Crunch selections. In Clean mode, sounds remain clean, even at high gain levels. When switched to Crunch mode the amount of crunch increases as you wind the gain up.
3. Clean/Crunch Rhythm Switch - Push switch to select either clean or crunch sounds on the normal channel (push in for Crunch).
4-6. Bass, Middle & Treble - Full 3 band EQ for normal channel tonal selections. These controls are effective and interactive to give you incredible versatility. Try as many combinations as possible to really get to know your EQ.
7. Channel Select Normal to boost channel selector switch. This function is also footswitchable. Set the switch to the in position for the footswitch to function. LED’s indicate which mode has been selected.

CHANNEL 2 (Boost)
8. Gain Control - Controls the gain level of the boost channel, which features ECC 83/12 AX7 valve drive. This control is effective on either overdrive selection. On OD1, it fattens the bluesy distortion and on OD2 goes from rock overdrive to full metallic thrash as you turn it up.
9. Overdrive Select (OD1 to OD2) - Manually switches from creamy “classic” OD1 to screaming “Hi Gain” OD2 distortion modes.
10-12. Bass, Middle & Treble - Effective 3 band EQ to shape the tone of all overdrive selections.
13. Contour Control - This sweeping control shifts the mid-band voicing of the boost channel to give amazing versatility to your overdrive sounds. When used in conjunction with the 3 band EQ, this control is devastating!
14. Volume Control - Controlling the overall level of the boost channel, this allows volume balancing between the two channels.

MASTER SECTION
15. Effects Send Jack - For linking to the input of an external effects processor.
16. Effects Level Switch - Selects the level to match your external effects units (0dB for rack units and -20dB for pedals).
17. Effects Return Jack - For connection from the output of an external effects processor.
18. Effects Mix - Allows you to mix the effects to dry signal. Note, if no effects pocsessor in line, Effects Mix fully clockwise will result in no signal.
19. Master Reverb - Controls the level of reverb effect on all channel selections.

SOUNDS

This amp doesn't sound very good at all. You would be better off getting the entire amp a solid state. The preamp tube does nothing for this amp. The FDD is some of the other solid state amps from Marshall make the amp feel more tube like but nothing can imitate a real tube amp.

This amp is really designed for practice. You cannot take this on sage and get a good sound from either the amp or the sound man, He may not even let you on stage with this thing. This is designed for home use and practice. So it is beyond me why you need 80 watts of it?

OVERALL OPINION

These amps have been fused out of production. I think the MG series has now replaced them on the market. You can certainly find them on the used market fairly cheap. I would only recommend this amp to someone just starting out with the electric guitar and needs a beginners amp. If you need a practice amp for home or office and need something that you cab plug headphones in then this is a decent amp for that.

- Crunch - I'm using it forever
- OD1: Rarely used, when I want a crunch sound, rock, typified by example 70's, just a presence of distortion but still grainy.

I found 2 years ago OCCAZ, I was looking for an amp is pretty versatile but mostly a distortion drinking a shoestring budget: its case is
