Soundscape MIXPENDER 9 ET MIXPENDER 5

This is a Multi DSP PCI card expansion for R. Ed system and with ability to configure SSHDR1 mixing. I have a system R.ed 32 tracks and one or two mixtreme I did not have enough power DSP. A pc Pentium3-450Mhz with 20Gig internal

The Mixpander / 9 9 contains the latest Motorola 563xx DSPs processors. The total processing capacity and + 2.6 GIPS (Giga Instructions per Second). This is more than 11 times the capacity of processing included in a system R.ed and 15 times that of a SSHDR1-Plus!

The mixpender / 5 contains 5 processor Motorola 563xx DSPs to more than 1.4 GIPS of processing power. It is already more than 5 times the power of a system R.Ed. and 8 times that of a SSHDR1-Plus.

UTILIZATION

Installing this without too much problem in Win2000, but XP is that problmatique +.
Not compatible with MAC and motherboards without PCI slot and too short
(The card do almost 45cm)
configuration is enjoyable and intuitive trs once used to the Soundscape system.
The manual is in English and is complete.

GETTING STARTED

Stable to the extent that you worry is ... If you let it run the software without having to ask you some errors like "semaphore timeout dsp ..."
Soundscape editor, cubase, logic or cakewalk.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it since 2002
A map just roll 10 x TC reverbs, plus a 32 channel, 32 bus, 5.1 surround mix, with 4 master channels simultaneously to a 5.1, LCRS, Dolby surround and a stereo output.
You also add a little EQ 4-band full of paramtrique, a compressor and Dynamics 8 Sends on each of 32 channels, a Dolby Surround encoder, Aphex Aural Exciters 2 x stereo and Aphex Big Bottom Pro 24 stereo delay and a processor multi-band as TC Dynamizer a stereo sub-mix ... another way mixpender a 9 / 10 just to run TC Reverb, 60 dynamics processors (gate / expander / compressor / limiter), 300 full band EQ Settings, TC Dynamizers 6 and 30 at the same time delay in biensur 24bit 44.1khz. This is an incredible processing power available!

There are a total of 640 connections between 24 bit audio DSPs plus 32 audio channels for use with a streamer of the PCI bus of the PC. Add the 16 buses per DSP chip and do no bus is necessary to route between them, the effects of in-line and every other DSP elements in each track mixer (eg EQs, send, fader, meters etc..), and you end up with a lot of connections can be very very far away that pushes all kinds of COMPTITE!

Each DSP is qutomatiquement reroute to another if it does not have enough processing power available to feed the large memory and complex effects such as Reverb, Chorus / Flanger and Delay.

APRs have sold all my stuff, so I invested in this range, large well I !!!!!!!!!

No latency, the plugs are in the record as to the mix.
The power available is amazing ...

Then, while j'conomisais, the brand has redeem by SSL, including the new owner is none other than Peter Gabriel, one of my HROS ))
SSL begins to look at this card by offering a superb plug: its surgical eq too but I got good ..
Then follow EACM1 and 2, and accumulation of API500 Neve 1081, needless to say they broke down the URS and other VST ... and I put each one on all my tracks, even without worrying about whether there is enough power or not.

Other trs trs plugs are also good: Drawn, TC, and more ...

Expected even when other compressor and equalizer "vintage", compltant range EACM and bands playing on the UA and UAD, the Mixpander have the resources to fulfill this mission )

MY SETUP: rcupr an old PC to my parents, had their cat piss in, I think there are 250 of RAM and 15 gigabytes of disk ... I think a PIII or P2 ...
Any fawn, it is that the signal to get the "Play" or "Stop" in SS32 ... and display the plugs (I have al one second graphics card!).

UTILIZATION

So watch the installation: the card is VERY LONG!
I d dlog poor hard drive and place it above the burner ... dvisser and the plastic part of the blue card (the mounting rail to hold the card in the server config) ... So part dlicate enough, unless you a big fat possdez PC.

No incompatibility with W2K SP4 )

Not really need a manual, it's just a reserve of power to play with plugs )

GETTING STARTED

Stable drivers for the moment, I am under W2K SP4? and I do not see what could GNER later my drivers, as the calf is BCAN ddi control the SS32 ...

The days seem to be made and rather cancels consquentes, but only to the Editor (of the team seems to SYDEC prparer out a big new this level).
SSL is also in the yard with them, could give a shuffled trs beautiful rsultat

I only use the Editor and the Soundscape Mixer.

OVERALL OPINION

It's been 10 days now, with the knowledge o I register my goup in full

What I like least: the management of passwords, just to Drout beginners.

What I like most: not to be printing on a PC, no power limitation and the number of I / O simultaneously, the power of the solution (and even I am far from having been around ...), the price Advice Forum SYDEC users.

I tried Cubase (but BOAF, I had to invest in interfaces, acclratrices cards, RAD type, finding the right motherboard, buy rgulirement of RAM, HD, worrying about drivers, latency, ...).

I also saw a version of ProTools Pro dmo (HD?), Also impressive, but more CHRE, and it seems less powerful, though more offers quavec level plug "vintage", but Right now, I think this will change the medium term.

I think the price quality ratio "Studio Pack" is VERY INTERESTED.
