I've run studios for decades and had/used/auditioned many, many mics from very spendy ones (U47, U67, RCA 77 etc) to cheap ones. The Solaris is a very good sounding LDC. I prefer the frequency response in figure 8 mode. Sounds even smoother with that pattern. This may be the best cheap LDC one can get, period.
