Static large capsule, fixed directional, cardioid, large capacity to collect high sound pressures, so much for the brass ...
It is a little Swiss Army knife with Neumann and affordable ...
OVERALL OPINION
I discovered some time ago already. This microphone does not disappoint me, the sound is clean, well-defined, fairly well balanced, I found him just a little lack of "soft" in the lower medium, but by personal taste, it is not a reproach ... It is very good everywhere, voices are clear, incisive brass, it does not distort the sound of musicians that are picked up and that's the point. On wind instruments, it is almost what I saw and heard better. On the vote, he is fine but I tend to prefer the TLM49, more "hot", with this low a little longer present, or the MXL V69XM, obviously typed in his lamp ... Timber is very beautiful, the flutes are "airy", the saxes are well defined, clarinets emit this feeling of width in the sound you get when you play a good solo acoustic 2m him. ... I really like the "wind" ...
This mic has been criticized since its release, people are finding that the tariff, we had more to do with a Senheiser as a Neumann ... They are wrong. This is a good Neumann, the signature sound of the brand is: he is not aggressive when it is set, the bottom does not blur the medium is accurate .... It is more versatile, and rather than take 4 microphones cheap but skilled, it is better to buy this one, which will all, with a sound that can do ANYTHING to the mix ...
In summary, this is a reasonable choice, microphone quality, go-anywhere ... An excellent starting point to build his park microphone ...
