This is a guitar that was only set for a limited run and once they were out they were gone. So if you weren't able to pick one up then it will be a hard number to find since they only made certain amount of these guitars. These guitars were basically the same specs as any other Gibson Les Paul Studio that they have been producing. the visible change would be the blue swirl paint job and certainly the cost is a little higher. SOUNDS
These guitars were limited to 300 for each color they they produced. They sound just like any other Gibson LP Studio. They are chambered as well so their feel is going to be lighter in weight. The tone won't be as thick and chunky as the non-chambered Gibson Les Paul's but still a good tone nonetheless.
What i love about the Gibso LP's is their ability to be one of the best rock guitars in the world. This guitar can be rocked out with a Marshall amp such as a plexi or JMP, or JCM 800, or a quality tube driven Fender amp. You can get a good classic rock tone from a Marshall plexi reissue or even a fender Twin Reverb with an Ibanez tube screamer out in front. These guitar just play what is given them and with be great accompaniments on the stage. Slap a good overdrive pedal behind this in front of your amp and you will get a nice thick mahogany rock tone.
OVERALL OPINION
These guitars are no longer in production. You will have to find them on the used market somewhere. They are cool looking guitars if you are into the swirl paint job. If you are a traditionalist in terms of how Gibson Les Paul's look then this guitar will not be up your alley. I would recommend seeing this guitar in person before you buy just in case you don't like the look of the swirl.See less10
