J'utilse the Walkman Minidisc Hi-MD MZ-RH1 for 4 months now, and am completely overwhelmed ...
Bought about € 250 on a website selling electronics (I will not name so as not to advertise), the Walkman MZ-RH1 comes with the following accessories:

AC adapter (100V-240V)
Power Cord
USB cable
Three magnetic cores
RM-MC38EL
Sony Headphones
LIP-4WM Rechargeable battery with case
Optical Cable
Carrying Case
CD-ROM Sonisstage (version3.4) / MD Simple Burner (version 2.0)
Manuals

The Walkman MZ-RH1 is a player-recorder Minidisc technology Hi-MD (which is what technology Hi-MD (http://www.mdfr.com/faqs/)) that support recording formats include:

LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation): 1.4 Mb / s
Hi-SP (Atrac3 +): 256 kbit / s
Hi-LP (Atrac3 +): 64Kbit / s
LP4 (ATRAC3): 66Kbit / s
LP2 (ATRAC3): 132Kbit / s
SP (Atrac): 292 kbit / s

and is capable of playing MP3 format natively (without converting the compression format Atrac3 +).
The Walkman MZ-RH1 is equipped with an OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diodes) passive matrix front and has a headphone / line-out, microphone input and a line-input in Analog / Digital.
At sound reproduction, the MZ-RH1 is the most successful of all the existing Minidisc Players so far: Digital Amplifier Digital High Definition, 6-band EQ (Pop, Heavy, Jazz, Unique, Custom1, Custom2) and Virtual -Surround VPT Acoustic Engine (Live, Club, Arena, Studio).
While listening level, combined with my Sennheiser HD-485 Minidisc Walkman MZ-RH1 is extraordinary, and this is due mainly to the Digital HD Digital Amplifier and Virtual-Surround VPT Acoustic Engine (mode essentially Club) ...
The Virtual-Surround VPT Acoustic Engine adds a sense of depth and panoramic sound, extremely well made more through technology Circum-aural my headphone.
On albums such as "Dig Your Own Hole" Chemical Brothers, "Human After All" Daft Punk live or on Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd, the rendering is amazing ...
Nothing to do with the rendering of an iPod, Arcos, or other! but then nothing to do (unless you have a very good amplifier associated with the HD player, and again ...)!
I have this model in addition to the Walkman Minidisc Hi-MD MZ-RH10 and owned before selling a Walkman Minidisc NetMD MZ-N707 ...
I use the Hi-MD Minidisc Walkman MZ-RH1 mainly on the bus and the train and associates it with headphones Panasonic RP-HJE50 and a Sennheiser HD-485.
The quality / price is right, yet if the sales team at Sony and my dealer could make it less pockets, it would be better for sure ...
I do it again well this choice!
