Analog Synthesizer Bass Envelope Filter including a (the Agent 00Funk) and Fuzz (that of Brown Dog). It can also act as Octavian.
Effects are analog, but the configuration is done via digital and LCD display.
The effects are editable and can be saved in one of 50 presets available. We can update the firmware via an SD card and proprietary files available for download on the site Chunk Systems. Thanks to the SD card reader, a system for exchanging presets between users is provided via the website Chunk Systems.
The connection is simple and efficient: input, output, and one auxiliary output, which for now is useless.
This is an effect pedal format.
UTILIZATION
The general configuration is not simple: 2 switches (1 to engage the effect, one for the preset increment) and two with rotocontacteurs validation Contol pressure should allow all parameters of all effects.
The factory presets can use right away pedal. However the first thing to do is go into the menus to adjust: tracking, filter sensitivity, the effect level etc.. to adjust the bass pedal to your (and your game) and its output level (passive / active).
A comprehensive study of the 63-page manual, navigation through menus and settings, and how the factory presets are set is essential.
The manual is not completely clear in the sense that I had to go into the settings of the factory presets to understand what was the impact of such parameters, on which characteristic sound etc.. Ideally we should appropriate the concepts of VCO, VCF, VCA, etc. as well as the model for operating the pedal to master the chaining effects.
The manual is therefore essential from the moment we want to create their own sounds as though the editing sounds is easy, create sounds from scratch is quite difficult at first. The interface with both rotocontacteurs with validation by pressure requires an adjustment period for the operation of the pedal.
Several hours / days are needed for a good grip and control the effect finally possible. on the other hand once you found it, it saves it and is found in a few seconds. If you change the bass, no need to set to all new levels, the general settings are made for!
SOUND QUALITY
The effects are effective, when you know how to set up the bike ...
The fuzz is very good, but I could not look over at the Brown Dog alone.
The filters are very good, but I could not look over Agent 00Funk alone. We have the possibility to have a self-wah.
The synths are very good also. The adjustment possibilities are numerous and cover a wide range of sounds, very rich, very hot, typically analog.
Cons by the octave in the bass landed from La. This is not the strong point of the pedal but you can limit this by setting the tracking and sensitivity in the main menu and adjusting his game I think still having a separate octaver is necessary to have a sound an octave without worries. Chunk Systems regularly publishes a new version of firmware and much progress has been made since the release of the pedal. A correction of the octave is possible ... to follow.
Some sounds are difficult to use in groups. Go to the site Chunk Systems to listen to samples available. These samples are from the factory presets of the pedal and can realize the sonic possibilities are enormous.
I use it with a bass guitar.
I like this pedal, it produces analog sound very rich, very warm and organic. on the other hand, not all are usable, some régalges produce sounds inaudible to the end user to sort.
OVERALL OPINION
I've had two weeks.
In the same range of sound / type of products, I Korg G5. That's 2 for synth bass, but each in its own sonic personality.
The strengths of this pedal sounds are excellent that can escape, the relative compactness of the effect and the fact that it is true-bypass.
Weak points are the cost prohibitive in nine (600 U.S. $ HT), the operating logic not immediately available, not great ergonomics and high consumption (250mA minimum) which does not supply it with the vast majority of power market.
This set of constraints mean that one is tempted to abandon this pedal to make something simpler, such as the Brown Dog Agent 00Funk coupled with a good octave for the same price. But Octavius Squeezer is much more than these three types of combined effects and once we understood the logic of operation and it has scheduled its sounds, use this effect is a real pleasure!
The value for money is not great in nine, in time it's better but it's still very expensive.
I had the opportunity to purchase at a good price, with the experience I would do the same choice.
