It's an envelope filter that offers a very wide range of auto-wah and more. Handcrafted in Sydney (Australia), this pedal is fully analog. It's a big beast of about 1.2 kg. Placed next to a Mu-Tron, it is just as impressive. This pedal has, however, a larger number of settings that the Mu-Tron III reproduced in part because it, unlike the Mu-Tron, the Chunk does not offer a filter, low pass ( LP), while its ancestor also offers the high pass and band pass. On the Agent 00Funk, the knobs are from left to right => Center, Lag, Range, Bypass gain, gain Effect, Peak. Added to a selector up / down. As for the rear: a DC input jack (9V tranfo), send a CV, a CV return, input and output. It has a true bypass footswitch Carling brand (one of the best in this area). This pedal is no longer manufactured. It was replaced by a version with two settings a bit more limited. Version 1 has, suddenly, a big advantage over it: the volume of the effect can be modulated, with the gain knob effect. In addition, the bypass can also gain increase or decrease the signal from the instrument, when the effect is bypassed. Finally, the Chunk generates no noise.
Achieve the effects we are looking for an application time to adapt. The first half hour is demoralizing. Better to have the doc, even if it is minimal and English. That said, we learn that the knob "Centre" is basically to adjust the frequency switching effect based on the instrument (guitar and synth analos in my case). The lag (closely related to the adjustment center) and range (adjusting the frequency knob basically allows you to go screaming to the grave) are also both have an important influence on the effect. In short, the issue is not necessarily easy at first getting started. We must experiment. In fact 00Funk Agent is no different in this area, other envelope filters: all require some getting used to.
That's the highlight: the sound. Agent 00Funk produces both the full range of effects that one expects from an auto-wah, but it goes much further. I can compare it to what I know: the Ibanez AF9, whose rating is high because this pedal is considered very close to the Mu-Tron III. Agent 00Funk is nevertheless well above, taking as much heat as the AF9. For my part, I mix the sound of the Chunk to that of Mu-Tron Phasor 2: funk torrid atmosphere assured.
This pedal is, alas, totally unknown in France. It is, however, not well appreciated in the United States where she is carving a reputation due to, among other things, its qualities, but also on the affected side of the Lovetone Meatball (coveted). Try the Harmony Central reviews: it's a start (1). For my part, I am totally satisfied. Especially since it is made like a tank. She will accompany me long time. Reason: I use little effect and I spend a lot of time to choose each of them.
