    Bass Guitar - 16 Years

Purchased from Musician's Friend to use as a backup while on stage. Ended up becoming more my primary!

Excellent playability, tone and construction. Electronics are superb! Action is set up beautifully out of the box! Suprising for how little you may spend on it!

    Nothing.

    Exceptional

Excellent instrument for the money. I paid about $499 for it about 3 years ago, and it has never let me down! Construction, features, and electronics are that of an instrument which is priced much higher!

In studio band, playing rock based music- mostly progressive rock.

Acquired via musiciansfriend.com for $499. Bought this bass to add a 5 string to my collection for the low B versatility. Didn't want to spend alot because I still am primarily a 4 string player. Did my homework beforehand and picked up this bass. I have not regretted it after a year.

Wow...let's see. There is alot to like on the C-5. Fit and finish and as perfect as one should ever expect on a bass at any price. Frets are rounded off and smooth, no sharp edges. Factory set-up (in the US) were superb. Very low action on a superbly solid neck. Neck feel is great. EMG-Hz pickups (2 soapbars) sound fine for rock playing of al…

EMG-Hz pickups (2 soapbars) sound fine for rock playing of all types with both crisp hi end and punchy low end. Electronics are quiet and this bass cuts through the mix. Massive, and I mean MASSIVE sustain with stock Elixer nanoweb strings. The back of neck is a satin finish, vastly superior in my book to glossy finishes which tend to get too sticky for accurate hand movement.

Two relatively minor complaints: would prefer a volume blend instead of the two seperate volume controls for bridge/neck pickups. Secondly, this ax is quite substantial and solid BUT heavy. No problem for a sit-down player, but would suggest a wide leather strap for gigging bassists to distribute the weight. If you do, the weight is very manageable and this bass is balanced well.

My unit came flawless and still is. Was shocked at how solid and well constructed this bass is. From finish to the materials to the assembly...not one complaint.

Can't imagine getting more bass for the $. I've tried similarly priced 5 string models from Yamaha, ESP, and Ibanez, only to return them. The C-5 is a keeper. Although I thought the C-5 would be relegated to spot duty only in special occassions, I find myself wanting to play it much more because it behaaves and sounds so nice.
