G-Lab TBWP True Bypass Wah-Pad

The TBWP is not a fact but an accessory pedal wha wha format Dunlop Crybaby or Vox. I dreamed of having long since this kind of material but it did not exist until G-Lab. The TBWP makes use of a Crybaby much easier. Indeed, to use a conventional wha wha, you press the switch to engage or disengage the effect. The TBWP simply eliminates this. The initiation is done by placing the foot on the pedal. Turning off the effect occurs in the same way, regardless of the position of the pedal when the foot is removed. An LED labeled "active" lights up when the effect is running. The operating principle of wha becomes substantially identical to the Morley Bad Horsie I or II, though on the latter, the effect is cut open and still in serious position. The other distinct advantage of this product is that it is out of the audio chain wha wha could color the sound. Many Dunlop Crybaby is the bad reputation of color the sound in the off position or have a change of level. This inconvenience can be found using the TBWP eliminated from G-lab. TB for True Bypass.

Operation is very simple. You ask your wha wha on the plate (you can even attach with Velcro for what does not move, it's what the manufacturer recommends), you connect the pad to wha wha by small jacks on the sides and you plug your guitar at the entrance of the block before TBWP and output to the input of your amp. Power is supplied relay: TBWP is fed by a 9v battery or external power supply and then connect the power cable to the TBWP wha wha. G-lab also provides you a handy little accessory, a plastic washer that attaches to the switch of wha once engaged and the effect that to avoid any accidental cut on wha wha when used on the pad . I use it recently but I am more than satisfied. I did not notice any delay in the onset of the effect. The pad seems very sensitive and a little foot pressure triggers the effect. Hard to miss this one solo because of wha wha, or to realize that the guitar sound is very small because the wha wha is still on despite the pressure on the switch.

J'agrémente often my rhythm by small strokes solo as on the resumption of Jimi Hendrix that I did with my group Kwijibo. For this piece I used for my Morley HorsieII bad for not having a switch 50 times during the song. I like the Morley Bad Horsie but I prefer the sound of the Dunlop Crybaby Classic Fasel I could not use on this piece. I resigned myself to have the Bad Horsie for live and rehearsals and recordings for Crybaby. Not anymore with the TBWP which for me is mixing the best of both worlds.

If I had to include a default that would be the failure to use the wha wha in a fixed position without having his foot on it. But this fault lies with the principle of operation unique to this product. Also I never use my wha wha and so this small problem is far from rédibitoire for me.

This accessory allows you to change quickly your wha effect of the chain while maintaining the same ergonomics of use, add a real true bypass without soldering any wire or to set aside your Bad Horsie Morley very saturation pleasant but a little cold and stiff enclair or crunch. It's a real jamboree using an old vintage or any wha Dunlop Crybaby with the ergonomics of using a Bad Horsie.

I'm not one to rave to a particular product or a particular brand. I just wanted to write about a product that blew me away and bring lots of surprises, which I think is rare these days in the music industry.

Here's how I want diverted using the product. I submitted the idea to Jakub Jakunowski. I plugged my MXR EVH, it is supplied with 18v so I did not connect the power relay. I switched on the effect and set the plastic washer to not turn it off accidentally. With one touch of my foot the effect comes into play and as soon as I break it turns off allowing me to use it on such short moments in the song "Unchained" Van Halen group. I'm using for now a looper pedal with a momentary switch for this purpose but the idea making its way, maybe G Lab may wish to manufacture this product or a few prototypes.

March 16, 2011 EDIT: I sold my TBWP, not that I was not satisfied, on the contrary it is a great product but I replace it with the simplest Wah Pad that works with the pedal Glab GSC3 and takes up less space on my pedalboard.

It is innovations for which we wonder "why nobody has found before?" This is the case for Wah pad.

The idea is simple, the pedal wah, indeed indispensable, is sometimes quite delicately snap / dsenclencher due to the positioning of the switch under the pedal and at the end of the race. Similarly, difficult to use the effect on a passage of a few seconds and impossible to engage / dsenclencher outside the low position. To remedy this, simply ask a wah wah on the classic pad. The pad is actually a weight sensor: it begins when we set foot on it and vice versa.
The pad is True Bypass, which means that when the effect is suddenly the signal bypasses the wah (which it is permanently active). When the effect is activated the signal passes through the wah.
So the pad has an input / output jack for classical instrument that integrates it into the effects chain, an input / output pad connecting the wah, a plug for the pad and m me a plug for the pad through the wah!
An LED informs us of the activation / inactivation of the effect.

G Lab is known for offering products that are well constructed. This is the case here with this pad robust and well finished. Although one might sr prfrer use its own jacks to connect the pad wah intgrs because they are not optimal but good quality is not very important given the length of cable ...

The pad is sensitive and specific on: no latency for switching / stopping the effect. Needless also to crush the pad, the foot is placed and it's good. The efficiency is terrible.
But why not have invented this accessory before? It changes A veritable life (well a musician ...)!

Note some small default:
- The power cable is located dstin the wah pedal left, which is not always the case on the pedals (for example, it is right on my Dunlop Dimebag Darrell ). Too bad, then one must dpatouiller with an extension or an external power supply.
- The wah is lit constantly, so it is better to avoid a battery power supply that unload very quickly. Sr not all vintage wah have an external power supply? It must then tinker his wah ...
- The pad can acueille all wahs: Dunlop for a format for example, no prolme. on the other hand for my Fender Fuzz / Wah, it's too big! Too bad!
- Impossible to keep the effect initiated without keeping your foot on it. For a song like "Money for Nothing" by Dire Straits with wah engages in a fixed position, it will therefore remain permanently on the foot pad. This is its principle of operation! But an additional switch for a permanent engagement disable the pad (like on the Fender Fuzz / wah) would t very apprciable more.

For the more adventurous, the pad can accommodate anything other than a wah: it can be used as an effects loop which Independent Appraisal and setting off immediately and can be short. The possibilities are numerous ... the wah effect couple of more complex rhythmic experimenter.

The intrt of True Bypass is to remove the wah in the chain of signal when you want to disable the effect. This is intressant with that same vintage wahs dsenclenches colored the sound by removing the treble. On the other side it is also part of the vintage sound you ask me! It's true! But even when it is!
Once started this accessory, it does not color the sound at all.
More activation / disable is done without delay and without noise.

With a simple dj wah is good but just imagine with other effects in the loop: it is then possible to activate any fawn effect immediately and perfectly contrl e, even on a very short time. Try a rhythmic jerk with a whammy, stamping his foot on the pad!

Here is a simple but effective product that provides an adaptable A veritable innovation (almost) all wahs. What can I say? It gnial!
Although some sr default are correct as food left or absence of a permanent switch interlocking ...
But this does not come gcher fun. Once you adopt one wonders how one could do without.
It should equip all wahs of this system (like Woowee Wah ... G Lab).

Is the price: around 130 euros! No data! But not regret this purchase!

In addition to the more adventurous you can plug any effect in this loop and express new sounds jerky and fast! Pad for more than a wah is a re-discovery of the possibilities of effects that is possible!
