SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Once installed the software works with your computer right away (on a Mac at least). The standalone version is a nice feature for those who don't have enough computer power to run it as a plug-in on their DAW. With a Macbook Pro i7 8gb of RAM & 7200rpm HD I am getting flawless performance. I know that it also runs like a dream on a duo core iMac. For over 3-4 years I've enjoyed the aid of Melodyne when dealing with troublesome vocal tracks. Once updated you will enjoy a very stable build. I have used it on Mac OS Mavericks and it works like a charm.

A favourite feature of mine has to be audio to MIDI. Although I always haven't had the best results, you can take a vocal track and turn it into a MIDI line. You can then take that midi file and import it into a DAW like Pro Tools, click score editor and BAM, you've got your very own vocal line converted to sheet music. This is a really cool feature and allows you to do other things like assign those midi notes to a synth. Now you've got matching synth for your vocals, and you didn't even need to play it!

I can't comment on using Melodyne as a plug-in. I've always been more comfortable with exporting and working on it in the standalone and then importing back into my DAW. I'm not sure if you run into lots of latency if using it live (or if it can even run live). It may be just used to render within a DAW.

OVERALL OPINION

I really liked that the pitch corrected vocals sounded natural. Auto-tune is known for its robotic sound and even used specifically for that in most tracks now days. Melodyne is a great tool to help a singer who has no choice but to use a take that was less than perfect.

The DNA feature is a must have, too bad it's priced so high. I do not currently have this version but I have used it and it is great. Say you've got a great stereo drum mix, but the 2nd tom was at a weird tuning. Import it into Melodyne editor and you can adjust the pitch of the snare without effecting the rest of the track. Got a guitar with a out of tune g-string? No problem, adjust the troublesome notes individually.

When it was first released it was cutting edge. And there aren't many programs that can compete with it even today. I had learned about it from a friend who wasn't at all into music, so the buzz it created reached into other fields. It really does live up to the hype. The warm natural sound of the pitch correction is not noticeable.

Melodyne has been highly accredited, winning a technical Grammy, a TEC award and 2 SOS awards. If that isn't enough to convince you, why not try a free 30 day trial. Now be careful, once you try it you are going to want to buy it!

Celomony Melodyne works without any problems on Windows Xp , 7 , Vista or MAC.

The manual incorporated with the program is decent and provides enough information for the user to get a good understanding of the software.

The setup is straight forward , easy , fast , shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes.

The typical functions are extremely easy to access , very straight forward concepts and designs presented.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Melodyne works very smoothly , the configuration is great , a high level of stability over time.

I'm getting amazing results while using this product on many vocal projects and some times for instruments tuning.

OVERALL OPINION

What I like most about it , is the full support 32 and 64 bit , the fact that this program can run as a plugin , as a vst , rtas or au.

Another thing that is great about this product , is double computer running , via a special function.

This powerful audio editor combines a lot of useful functions encountered in autotune and other audio editors , you can manually control the timing and the pitch , or you can control them via a special button on top right corner.

You can even modify the volume , the timbre , the time , the formant , and the transitions between notes.

My opinion about the value for the price is shared with many others , great product at a decent price.

I've tried several models before getting to know Melodyne , but still , at least for me , this is the best audio editing software.

Knowing what I know, I would make the same choice because of its great design , powerful editing features , different applications in creating harmonies , editing the pitch transitions , and of course the vibrato amount and range.

There weren't any kind of compatibility issues , the program worked really amazing on Windows XP, Windows Seven or even MAC OS.
The book provided with the program was a blessing , all the information that was important was well explained there.

General configuration and setup is fast easy and pleasant so it doesn't require a lot of time and effort.

The software works smooth and its stability is very great and epic.
The functions and the performances are as powerful as it can be in this editing world.
I've been using this product for some time in a lot of mixes , songs and different vocal recordings.

OVERALL OPINION

What I like most about it is how you can work in auto-mode , you just let the program make the time slices , to adjust the pitch in a certain scale , this features saves a whole amount of time.
I like as well , the features that you can adjust the pitch not only for a vocal performance , you can even adjust and get in tone a piano , a guitar or any other instrument either percussion or not.
Another amazing features of this program are the adjustments that are very simple and easy to understand , the understanding of the program is very fast and with that comes a great freedom in your editing either vocal or not.

My opinion about the value of price is awesome , this product costs about 150$ , which is not much but the use of this program in the music industry is huge.

Precision and quality of the sound is very precise , powerful pro and without any mistakes allowed , I would rate this detail 10/10.

Knowing what I know , I really do think that this is one of the most powerful product on the market at this hour and it's well worth the money.
