AlumiSonic Ultra 1100
A specialist in aluminium guitars, AlumiSonic has announced the release of the Ultra 1100 archtop guitar.
The brand claims to have achieved what they consider the ultimate combo of material and thickness to result in the best possible equalization of aluminum clarity with deep, obedient resonance and sustain. The archtop is cold formed and hardened from 99% pure 1100 aluminum to augment warmth and resonance. From there, the archtop is fused to the incredibly durable .09" thick 6061 aircraft grade aluminum.
An option for a semi-hollow bridge pickup chamber gives more percussive crunch and resonance control for those with finer tastes. Chambers are also available in aluminum or mahogany to provide darker resonances. The stock alnico V humbuckers can be slightly overwound for more driving rock styles, but classic-59 windings are also available for anyone favoring a subtler blues feel.
The necks on the Ultra-1100 are individually modified to be mounted with the AlumiSonic Set Neck Mounting System. With this method, the neck pockets are angled back five degrees for optimal setup with Tune-O-Matic bridges. The necks are custom-made by Warmoth and are designed to be very consistent in terms of feel, balance and temperature.
Planned to be priced at $2720.00, the Ultra 1100 will be premiered publicly on July 12-13, 2008 during the Great American Guitar Show in King of Prussia, PA.
