I wanted a Les Paul type guitar, Godin Icon this is a great alternative. Made in Canada, fully chambered mahogany body, mahogany (rather unusual for a Godin), pitch Gibson icing on the cake and an ebony fingerboard!
The guitar is quite heavy, somewhat similar to a Les Paul in return it provides incredible sustain. With a good wide leather strap well, forget the weight.
The bridge is a Seymour Duncan hambucker and the neck pickup is a Godin hambucker I find very good. The selector position is a 5-way switch stratocaster type the two additional positions relative to a Les Paul permit to split into single coil pickups. A small active circuit also allows you to switch the active microphones, finally good I think it is rather an amplifier mediums. A 9V battery is in the body, to get there, it is not practical because it is necessary to unscrew the back plate. But autonomy seems good, it's been over a year since I have and I have never replaced the battery.
Setting level is as simple as a telecaster, a volume knob and a tone knob!
Mine is slightly different from the picture, supports micro plastics are black, white I think it swears a bit. (Mine is part of the limited edition of 50 pre-set, eh eh I have 23)
The absence of pickgard is a bit confusing as at first, but got used to it quickly.
UTILIZATION
The handle is very nice, ebony fingerboard is really a plus, it's a little confusing at first, I thought it was a little too "slippery", the bends are all alone! You can feel the hardness of ebony under the fingers.
SOUNDS
For big sound! this is a guitar that is best suited for solo, for the rhythm I prefer to use my Telecaster.
The sustain is huuuuge!!
OVERALL OPINION
Value for money at around € 1000, also well worth a Gibson Les Paul made I do not know where and who has no ebony or split pickups.
