It's a modeling amp of 30W. It has characteristics making it very practical to learn the guitar and practice:
- A reader mp3 and midi files
- A loop recorder
- The connection to the sound editing software, for managing the files and presets
Connectors for:
- A panel guitar input, 1 input for a second skyscrapers behind
- A front-panel headphone output
- 1 x line out as 2 mono jack behind
- 1 input for footswitch

The régaglages are done via the menus, clearly visible on the screen. Through the PC, you can access settings most complete. In two cases the type of amp, the gain, EQ, various effects (compressor, chorus, flanger, phaser ...) are available.
AmpliTube Fender LE software Ableton Lite e are also provided.
For 250 €, this is a package impressive! Only the footswitch must be taken in supplement if needed (50 €). Unfortunately, no expression pedal.

UTILIZATION

Say it right now, this amp can put off those accustomed to an amp like "I connect, I turn and it sounds". The sound editing is done either by the amp via the menus or via the PC. A geek, however minor, should get out safely.
The basic manual is zero. Besides, I do not need. You can download a more complete version but geek inside, I did not need either.
Each preset can be associated with an mp3 or midi file. For example, you create a sound ACDC and you associate the file luis mp3 "black in black" (you have imported yourself via USB cable or SD card). You run the bazaar and you can repeat the song needing only the amp.
It also works with MIDI files. Admittedly, the sound is less good but the immmense advantage to select the tracks you want to hear (you must do on your PC). For example, you have the midi file of black in black. You want the party bass / drums and the guitar part to very low levels. You set this in your midi file, you import it and aa rolls ...
To find a good sound requires a little tinkering the settings at the beginning. Once caught on the amp types and their settings, use is intuitive.
There is a function to change the tonailité or speed of an audio file. In theory, it is convenient to repeat at slower speeds. In practice, once you activate the function, even with a speed barely reduced, the sound of the audio file is pourrave, unusable. Paf, in the face of the final grade!

SOUNDS

This amp is super versatile. It's normal, what is its purpose. He can be accused of lacking character precisely. Full range of light to heavy distortion is covered. I love the clean sounds and the sounds rock types 70-80. The rest is correct.
Equalization lacks a bit of aggressiveness: the settings on his play but I would have liked more control and dynamic variations.
The factory sounds and audio files provided (100) are unequal. It allows to improvise on different styles (country, rock, hardcore, jazz ...) but you get tired quickly. They will gradually be replaced by my own presets and songs.
By pushing a little volume, it shows the limits of the amp. It gets a little messy. But it does very well what I expect of him in my office, not far from the PC, I can enjoy myself and say what I want.

OVERALL OPINION

This amp has an excellent value for money. For € 300 (including the footswitch), you access a working amp containing all that is necessary for single player. The are are okay, not great ... but correct. By pushing a little volume, one can even seek to repeat as a group if there is molo drummer. And if you do not have a drummer, go hop ... an audio file with drum loops or midi file. The bass player is not there? It adds a bass.
I played with a lot of tube amp. I have not done so by lack of space and because they are too heavy. I also had a Vox AD60 (modeling) which was very good (better in sound) but he dropped me. I now have this thing at 300 € and that's enough to make me happy.
Beware, however: those who swear by "I connect, I turn and it sounds" should look elsewhere. A minimum of geek attitude to use the machine. I confess that although I belong to this category of musician, I sometimes regret the use of a single panel with only the knobs to turn.
In short, an amp with a great price, decent sound, a tool that can do everything ... but not ecstatic either. A good Swiss Army knife.

This is a 30 watt amp. I have not pushed all the way because I play at home, but it sends a very strong password as soon as 2-3 on the master.

UTILIZATION

Well, here it hurts. Everything must be edited with any soft little buttons below the screen if you do not want to go through the PC. It's pretty intuitive, but what it is boring for someone like me who hates being in front of the PC with his guitar. I play upright and frankly, to spend his life with the mouse to add a little overdrive pedal before the amp virtual machin etc., too little for me.

The looper is a farce. With 30 seconds, nothing is done (and more without external footswitch, you have to press the little button and then quickly nab his guitar) and low quality mode (2min30), the sound is really bad, more bass, more acute ...

I have a Boss RC-3 hundred times better, ok, it's almost the price of the amp, but I also have the multi-effect ZOOM G3, whose 30-second looper and much better than G-December and in addition, you can run up to this one.

SOUNDS

Frankly, I do not understand the rave reviews from other users.
When you plug your guitar, it's true that the sound is very flattering, the cleans sound downright great, but then, expressiveness and dynamic side ... a real misery. We play as a nag or very subtle, the sound is basically the same, we do not, or so little, the extra saturation phenomenon when you attack the strong rope. Again, I am ZOOM G3 which, quite honestly, literally sinking into the G-DEC musicality. The basic sounds are not the best but the dynamic is really that of an amp. Like what you can do very good things in modeling ...

I honestly think this is an amp for beginners not used to playing and hear real amps. And I say this in all humility for I am far from being a god of the guitar and have tested the ultra expensive amps. But I am of the generation that was 10 years before the teen mp3, I have ears.

OVERALL OPINION

Okay, now talk of backing tracks. They sound great, but I found that the mix between the guitar tracks and was never very good, the sound of the guitar seems to be out of the mix, very artificial. And above all, where I had the great disappointment is in the deceleration function tracks. Once you use it, the sound becomes really rotten, it kills all the fun to play with. I do the same thing with my free tracks from CD on my PC with Audacity, and the result is a hundred times better. I was also hoping to find avenues for bass-drums rhythm of work but the backing tracks are just for those who want to do solos ... I find it a little grid steps there ...

I have at home a Blackstar HT-1R (cheaper than the G-DEC), that I had not connected for some time, lack of time to heat lamps, I saw very little time to play. Right, well when I reconnected, I immediately cried. Dynamics, sound, diversity, everything is there.
I also have a poor Kustom 10 Watt with BOSS OD-3 and DS-1 before, well, even then, the dynamic is one hundred times better than Fender.

Conclusion: I sold the G-DEC after 3 days. Believe me: an output from the PC to a hifi to backing tracks, a good old tube amp or transistor drinking with 2-3 pedals in front and you will sound a hundred times better.
I would add that to register with a backing track, the ZOOM G3 is, in addition to its high above, much more convenient than the G-DEC.

So you want 100 amps at your disposal but your recording studio is a bedroom? No problem! Well no quite, but Fender built the G-Dec 30 with you in mind. The spent a ton of time in research and development before releasing the amp to the public this year. There goal was to give you 100 amp sounds that you actually love and want to use. We've all tried out that other digital amp where out of 42 presets maybe 3 of them are cool.

I saw this at a trade show. I had a few hours later to check one out. New the sticker price is $399.99.

The software used to connect the amp and your computer to create and edit loops and patches really is the easiest I've seen. In a few minutes I was tweaking knobs and building a playlist of sounds.

There are no outstanding negative features. I didn't fall in love with the sounds as I would if I had a Fender Twin Reverb and a few effects pedals, but this amp holds its own well.

It is the same Fender look you are used to just a little more hi tech. Apparently there are a few limited edition colors and this amp comes in, but mine was classic black and silver.

I was a little nervous by the lack of knobs as they were replaced by the LED screen. My only concern is if the screen goes down so does your amp.

Fender packed plenty of amp sounds into one box. It's up to you to put it all together.

This basically a guitar teacher's perfect amp for teaching a student as far as I know. I wouldn't think it's really meant for anything else like good tone or a live gig etc as most of the features are not live-gig oriented.



UTILIZATION

Pretty simple to use in terms of a guitar amp. There are actually less knobs for the guitar amp part of this amp than there are other knobs that do other things.

However it's quite easy with the big display in the middle and the scroll knobs that would help you scroll through songs/tones etc.



SOUNDS

I don't think anything sounds particularly good but I don't think anything sounds particularly bad either for what it is, a practice amp or a teacher's/student's amp for learning. If you think about it that way, then yes it's quite alright. I don't think it sounds better than my 80's peavey banditt that I once had for practice but that's just from memory. However these amps almost all sound the same at this price point, there really isn't much difference aside from features, of then which also depends on the purpose of the amp.

OVERALL OPINION

The G-DEC, while intentionally marketed towards teachers/students/just learning guitar players or not, this amp is definitely built for that. There's a lot of presets and a lot of built in songs to play around with and learn with, however these aren't full songs, they're more like loops. Though you can upload your own songs I believe. Overall it's quite easy to use and it has drum sounds as well so you can get that full band feel when practicing, which is always a good thing, everybody wants a full band feel all the time don't they? I know I do!

SOUNDS

I play with a Fender Stratocaster. We can get all kinds of sound, light, overdrive, fat saturated. We can play all syles. Even when I'm not convinced by compltement sounds. All sounds are factory bours of reverb (too my taste, it can of course change), they are beautiful, but let us even when tank. It lacks a something or other. Maybe a little low, or heat. I have also a micro cube, and the sounds of G in December, APRS have used this little amp Roland, seem a bit bland.
This opinion is only my opinion, it must be testing!
I put 8 for all options, but what is the sound of the amp, I put only 6.

OVERALL OPINION

But the best of the best, it's still the possibility to play with the drums and bass. With a computer that connects to the port MIDI is extra! Regarding the sample is also great. Tuner, and everything, and everything.

The effects can be reached quickly, the sequences also with a single button. The handling is intuitive and the instructions (simple and French) is not necessary to make it work. The sound quality is not great, especially with pre-recorded effects that can still mofifier easy, but you can still get a nice little sound than enough for what I have to do in my salon. But do not expect a big sound "hard" or a clear sound fabulous. So much for versatility and a little worse for the quality of sound that is still very acceptable for domestic use.

It has a wide range of sounds possible with the available effects, and 50 pre-recorded sequences are quite varied. I have been using less than a year

I bought nine 310 euros I think the report quality excellent price (the 15w might be able to satisfy me but you get to push a little more often ...)

UTILIZATION

The G-Dec 30 can be a bit of a chore to get a good sound from. The factory preset sounds are a bit much, like most products with tons of models and effects. To find usable tones, I had to edit most of the presets, which was a somewhat intuitive process until I wanted to save the sound I had created. Then I couldn't because the "save lock" feature was on - what? Why would it come from the factory with the ability to save preset changes blocked? It was a chore to figure out how to take that feature off, and once I did, the tones were easily edited. But the initial annoyance and user-unfriendliness of it knocks the rating down significantly.

I will say the practice jam tracks and looper function are incredibly handy, but not implemented to the best way possible. The jam tracks all vary in volume from one present to the next, so some can blare at you, and some are too quiet. Also, the looper is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to use without a footswitch, as there is no count in. I got and used the footswitch later, but it stopped working correctly. Arrrgh!

SOUNDS

The built in presets are terrible, quite frankly. After editing, I created some usable tones. But there is nothing I could do in the settings that would make a good metal rhythm tone. At all. The amp has too pronounced a midrange spike and too weak of distortion settings for it to work with heavy music.

OVERALL OPINION

Despite all its short-comings, I'll call it a 7 out of 10. As a practice tool, having backing tracks to play with, as well as the ability to loop, one can advance in one's playing quite quickly.

If all the annoyances were addressed by Fender, this product could be outstanding.

Amp transistor, but the simulations of tube amp sounds are well done.
The power of 30 W can play in rehearsal with a drummer that hits moderately, otherwise it is possible to connect its output to another more powerful amp. The connection is complete, the settings simple, and the effects of good quality except for the phaser, which is frankly useless and very basic pitch shifter.

UTILIZATION

Easy to use, the manual is in French. Some pre-programmed sound effects are exaggerated, others are perfect as the sound for the Bakersfield country. Connecting to a PC via a USB - midi works with the preset editor to load the site of Fender. All Programs site for this Fender amp does not work, you must wait for new versions. The sounds are excellent. The clean sounds worthy of an old twin, the cool crunch like a mesa, and the distorted sounds very compelling. I compared the sound with the original amps next is up to it, except the hp should not grow in volume, it is only 30W! I love all the sounds of this amp. Previously, I was never excited about modeling (line6, vox) but I say hats. Even the simulation of acoustic amp is clean.

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for three months, and I like the concept. I even plug it as a preamp on my boogie for clean sounds with delay and reverb.
You can play alone for hours by recording loops, and everything is easy to use. It would be nice if in the future stretched Fender recording time of the loop, and the phaser, it is better to insert his MXR.

I have never been a fan of amp modeling amps, but I am starting to get into the market for one for my daughter. so I have been scouting out a tone of these little units. The amp modeling has come a long way since its inception and when I was messing around with them. I have long forgotten the amp modeling since I love the feel and sound from tube saturation. That being said companies are getting better and better at recreating sounds that you would hear from multiple amps and fitting them into combo for well under $400 and going as low as $99 for some Peavey and other makers

SOUNDS

If your thing is blues rock or country and metal this is right up your ally. This is the standard version that can be updated with the certain sounds that you like. Kind of like an MP3 players for amps. If you want a bit heavy sounds they have a metal, country, and blues version of the same thing. Those amps would be particular to the sounds that the name describes.

It comes with Fuse software that allows you to edit your sounds via the computer. Nice visual device to update and even store on your computer for backup. What is great about it is that you can really see how you effects are going through your signal.



OVERALL OPINION

You can get kind of crazy going through all of these presets. There are 100 and 22 different amps which makes lot of options to fit into some of your playing time. You can get carried away with so much operation and tweaking that you can forget about actually playing. That is another beef with these types of amps is that there is so much to explore that you can get lost and waste time tweaking then actually playing.

At new these units come in at around $400 which is bit high comparably to amp modelers. So i would recommend a Peavey or a Vox modeler.

The Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty is an extremely unique guitar amplifier that goes beyond the standard features of what you'd expect with a guitar amp. The amp is unique because it's designed for players to play along with loops and backing tracks, as it's got a player in it that has presets and is expandable. It can also play mp3 tracks through it to play along to. It also connects to your computer via a USB connection so you can upload tracks to share with people and/or further manipulate. UTILIZATION

Using the Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty isn't too hard, but it can do a lot so it will take some playing with to get fully comfortable. The good news is that the sound is pretty controllable being that it's got a ton of built in effects. The amp is definitely designed for the practicing player anyway, so it's not like most users are going to be using this for shows or recording, which I really wouldn't recommend doing. The G-DEC 3 should definitely be treated as a practice amp, and in this regard it's one of the best of it's kind.

OVERALL OPINION

If you're looking for an amplifier to practice with, the Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty makes it easier than ever. Of course it's the perfect size for practicing since you can move it easily and doesn't get too loud, but where it really comes in handy is for practicing to the presets it gives you and the expandable ones. It also has all sorts of built in effects to get your feet wet with, although I wouldn't say that they're up to the standard of being recorded with. However, those looking for the ultimate practice amp should look no further than the Fender G-DEC 3.
