«  Excellent for beginners and maybe more ... »

Published on 02/07/11 at 09:03
I refer to the technical or other advice on this aspect, it's a 15W model, with lots of built-in effects (phaser, flanger, chorus, delay, tube screamer, a reverb'...), headphone jack and an MP3 input.

I take this opportunity to talk about the finish (because I read some rather negative opinion on this point here). It is true that the control panel has a tendency to sink when you plug the jack. That said, it never broke or even gave the impression he was about to do.

I carried this amp in almost any car on the 200Km weekend for over a year and a half and have hit quite a few times (especially on the stairs ...) and it works just like the first day.

UTILIZATION

Not really simple at first, a lot of knobs that can be used by turning or pressing them ... For my part, I did not use the manual, I I learned on the job, so it is quite feasible, but it takes a little practice. That said, once past this phase, it is more ergonomic.

Note the presence of a rare "pre gain" and a "post gain". The first acts as a gain standard, while the other acts in fact as a single volume.

SOUNDS

For a modeling amp in this price range is rather stunning.

The models are numerous (each with a clean fashion and a saturated mode), which gives it great versatility, from jazz sounds (playing with the tone of the guitar) to the most violent Metal (some emulators are of Besides the default setting with a win rate very high).
Most emulations are based on neamoins sonoritées enough "vintage", and get a popping sound smooth and modern is not necessarily obvious (but one or two emulators still lend themselves quite well as long as your guitar to follow).

I mostly played with a Stratocaster American Standard, the slamming of the micro spring fever pretty well, the field of blues / jazz / country is easily accessible, as well as funk. Overdrive opens the doors of the blues-rock or pop has muscled the English, while the distortion leads to the Hard Rock Metal (but with my Start ', the big distortion sound still very "slimy") with a bluntly honest quality.

I also had the opportunity to test it with a Les Paul type guitar and uh ... well it's pretty close actually, and it affects one of the weaknesses of the amp (and this technology general) is that the personality of the guitar is not really developed.
The difference between single and humbucker pickups will not pass unnoticed, of course, not least in terms of output level or the dynamics and power of the treble, but the general character of the sound does not necessarily vary as much as what one would expect.

The different effects sound good and can be addressed quite briefly. I do not need to elaborate more on this point, it is far enough from the dedicated pedals, but it's still okay.
Last point: the power of 15W is perfect for playing alone in her room, but this amp as in the stomach, more than you might think, and I am sure that by pushing the Master must be able to cover a fairly quiet drummer.

OVERALL OPINION

In the end, it's a great amp for beginners given the price, which may largely confirmed troubleshoot the guitarist, not least due to the effect that integration and overall versatility.

The downside is the lack of character rather pronounced, but this defect is often inherent to this type of technology.
I just chan for a 15W all-tube, and there is a clear difference (from 300 € to be precise: p) but in this price range, it remains to me one of the best bargains on the market.
