I bought the Lexicon mx200 to be used with a soundcraft fx16 II mixer and electric guitar since I needed some more effects than the built in ones in the mixer. Its routed from the aux send of the mixer and Im currently using two aux sends into the mx200 left and right inputs.
The mx200 have 4 routing options and two processes that can be run in series or parallell. Its important to read the manual and configure the utility setting correctly if you are going to plug it into a mixer or guitar amp.
The sounds are great for guitar I havent tested for song, drums, keyboard yet. You get different mix results based on the routing you choose from 1-4. Some effects sounds best through routing 1 or 2 and some better through routing 3 or 4.
I use it mainly for chorus and reverb and delay effects and with correct routing they sound very good with alot of width and depth. This unit can make your guitar cover the entire stereofield with chorus and reverbs or you can dial in a more balanced sound that fits a mix.
The pros are its easy to handle once you've read the manual and set it up correctly for intended use. The sounds are of studio quality and I can't say anything negative for the price. It sounds much better than any guitar pedal board reverb or chorus I've used in the past.
The cons are if you don't read the manual and set the utility settings correct you might end up setting the unit incorrectly and be disappointed with the sound you get. Some might find three knobs is not enough to dial in an effect and may want even more control. For my usage it does the job fine.
