Regal Tip Drum TorquePublished on 12/02/11 at 19:16
This is a great invention that I have been waiting for a while for. The experienced drummer to the intermediate to the beginner, regardless of the level of the user this device is a useful asset and a requirement to any drummer’s arsenal. Somewhat of a wrench, this unit hooks to the lugs of any drum set with them and measures the pressure of the head. This is important because using one’s eye to look for ripples in the drum head when tuning is only so useful. For precision tuning this device is amazing and it really fills a void that when used with other products aids in the creation of an even sound regardless of who is using the set.

Another cool feature of this is that anyone can now help. In the past, only one person could tune a head properly, to ensure even turns, even pressure, etc. Now this enables anyone to tune a drum head like a pro.
I guess the only downside is that this is purely a tool, and not a full featured unit that can take a drum from headless to tuned in 1 shot. It still requries someone who knows when a drum head is optimally tightened and tuned to finish the set. I have found this unit is awesome to use in the studio, as the tech guys who work the board, and have ltitle if any familiarity with drums or tuning can help lend a hand. This means the unit has paid for itself.
I suggest this unit for anyone looking to tune fast and accurately.
All in all, I amd very happy with my purchase, and see no downside or bad thing about the unit. It is reasonable, and is not too expensive, but it also has it’s limits and will require someone to know the procedures for tuning a drum head beyond just tightening lugs.

Regal Tip Drum TorquePublished on 01/10/11 at 13:50
The Regal Tip Drum Torque is an incredibly handy tool that is made for helping you tune drums. It's basically a wrench that hooks into the drum lugs on any drum and measures the pressure for tuning purposes. This ensures that your tuning will be even all the way around. The device isn't very difficult to use, although I've only used it a handful of times and don't own one myself. However, this is really just because I'm not a drummer and would most certainly have one if I had some drums of my own. Even so, it's an awesome little tool to have around the studio and is something I'm going to suggest getting at the pro studio I work at. The only reason I got to use this was when a...…

The only reason I got to use this was when a session drummer brought it in and as an assistant he asked me to use it to tune up his drums evenly. Usually this will be done by the drummer himself, but this tool makes it easy enough for anyone to do it quickly and to help save time. The Regal Tip Drum Torque isn't very expensive and is really just a simple, specified tool. It's worth having if you're a gigging or studio drummer who brings around their drums a lot and has them fall out of tune constantly or anyone who just wants the drum tuning process to be a little bit easier from now on. It won't get much easier than this, as Drum Torque more or less does the work for you. There isn't much of a learning curve as you should be able to get the hang of it quickly, which is probably the main concern with someone getting this or not. The Regal Tip Drum Torque is absolutely a tool worth investing in for any drummer...
