With this new Triple Cream LD Model, Seymour Duncan finally resolves a long-time mystery. While the brand has offered cream single coil pickups and Zebra (cream and black) humbuckers for a long time, full cream humbuckers have never been available. Why ? Because they were not allowed to. The reason of this restriction was not explained but Seymour Duncan decided to go further and now offer a triple cream humbucking pickup.
The Triple Cream LD Model is based on the Duncan Distortion pickup but Seymour Duncan used a FeNi (iron and nickel) alloy extracted from a piece of the Chelyabinsk Meteor instead of ceramic magnets.
The result is, according to the brand, 133% more agressive than the Duncan Distortion when in series, but it will also be possible to wire it as a classic Humbucker and install on the guitar a mini-switch or push/pull knob to engage the third coil when more gain is needed.
The only problem with this Triple Cream D Model is, according to Seymour Duncan, the increased magnetic field that disrupts the navigational senses of bats.
The Triple Cream LD Model is available exclusively through the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop.
