« Very good pedal. »
Published on 02/28/13 at 10:14That thing promised I give my opinion as objective as possible on this pedal very well made but there are things to know anyway!
2 channels with switchable one hand Clean / Overdrive, three sounds available but only two foot.
1 classic EQ Bass / Treble / Middle common to both channels.
Each channel has its own volume knob and dedicated gain.
1 knob working in mediums ISF blackstar.
2 jack for standard input / output and an output jack also for classic amp emulation output.
1 lamp ECC83 / 12AX7.
Dimensions: 160 x 119 x 80
Weight: 1.2 kg.
Power 22V DC 1.1A maximum intensity
Charger provided.
I put 8:
-The apparent solidity of the pedal, it seems very sturdy
Knobs-solid, having a stroke and fluid acting on its well
-The switches that work very well
-The look is nice especially with the little light that illuminates the lamp even if it is useless!
Ground-stability
The EQ-common is the black point of the pedal
-Knobs gain / volume bunk and it is unclear which the small black dot adjustment
-Small flexible Plexiglas protecting the lamp was peeled off, just received I had to remove the grill to pick the plate, unacceptable for a pedal at this price
Tag it "Metal" on the bottom of the pedal is a vulgar adhesive seller
-Even if the buffering of very good quality at this price you could put true bypass.
UTILIZATION
Use could not be more simple and classic, plug it up the volume and the gain and play!
Knobs turn freely and evenly, no cracks.
They are effective and work well on the sound, the ISF can work intuitively distortion.
The volume and gain knobs are superimposed to gain obvious place, it does not bother me but it can be full concert boring.
The small black dot is very visible on the knobs because of the brightness of these at home it goes in concert in a poorly lit area it breaks.
Pressing the switch to connect a channel, a second bypass supports (not true!) Channel and therefore the pedal. Obviously, if a channel is activated pressing the switch next channel intersects the first and second active!
The equalizer (which explains my note 7) even if it is of very good quality is common to both channels and it is a shame, but at this price it's understandable. If you want to play heavy metal ryhtmique with little medium and send a big solo with this medium is cooked!
Channel 2 acts as a boost is very noticeable and effective.
SOUND QUALITY
Haaaa! So good or bad?!
I am very happy with the sound it delivers. The distortion is warm and well adpaté pushed the rock / metal and solos. The notes are linked with the attack and sustain very pleasant.
I tested it with my fender champion 110 amp, ibanez RG series for my gain and my Mexican Stratocaster for clean / overdrive.
Champion 110 saturates at low, an HP 12-inch would be better suited for this type of pedal, works very well with strato we have a great update on the clean / overdrive, the Ibanez sends a good distortion (micro V7 / V8) although I think that would be more suitable active pickups in the program of this pedal.
The clean channel is alive and warm, it takes a good crunch when you push the gain which allows for sounds close to my boss SD1 playing with the knobs. The question of the resale of the SD1 because it actually raises by switching between positions Clean / OD I can highlight all the sounds of it, even though the two pedal grain is still a little different.
Channel 1 leaves us a stockade distortion very hot and natural equalizer work in conjunction with the ISF can scan a good repertoire of distortion.
Channel 2 as a boost is very noticeable and not be used either as a boost for solo or just for a game high gain, also playing with the knobs was a beautiful palette of distortion.
I love the texture of the distortion but has a personality and still can not type in all registers.
This gives much distortion in the medium, I particularly like to play heavy metal riffs and solos send with superb sustain and a lot of momentum in the game
However anyone who wishes distortion cold, aggressive and very cut will be very disappointed. I keep my Boss Metal Zone in addition precisely because it overcomes this gap by offering a typical distortion ideal for playing Black, Thrash, a little dry or riffs kind Rammstein (their debut!) Very broken.
Distortion is important, but not exaggerate it is quite usable except the last 1/10th of the knob or it gets a bit messy.
Fishing at it in the belly but there are more powerful, Metal Zone out bigger sounds to play Death Metal that will not lack a little something I found on the Metal Zone, use active pickups would be everybody okay ...
So to summarize the sound quality is excellent!
The clean / crunch is very good, the distortion is really hot and dynamic equalizer with isf and what was poking and build a beautiful color palette. However, there are distos more aggressive on the market most brutal typed more.
I think this pedal is most suitable for amplifiers with HP 12-inch and guitars equipped with micro active especially when you push the gain. It also works well with simple micro channel clean / crunch and overdrive.
OVERALL OPINION
I received this pedal recently.
I compared,
the boss SD1: it's a little duplication
Boss MT2 Metal Zone: dynamic distortion warmer but the metal zone distortion fate of most typed, it complements the other.
The Lead Champion 110: hum hum ... incomparable!
The distortion of the H & K Vortex (from memory because I never saw) close enough with his ISF knob knob reminds me of the Character of the vortex, but the blackstar is more versatile, the distortion is better and more dynamic invoice.
What I like most about this pedal is the quality settings, solidity, simplicity, Charger, distortion of very good quality with many colors.
What I like the least common equalizer, price, lack of radicalism in particular extreme records. Also 2 small details that make cheap: the small plate lamp protection plexiglass (which in my case had jumped ...) and stickers "Metal" would have preferred nothing or a painted relief.
In the end I found the value for money snug. 3 sounds clean / crunch and distortion and boost two footswitches, an equalizer / isf good, gain settings and separate volumes for both channels, a lamp, charger provides. He just lacks a separate equalizer to make it a "must have" but I paid € 184 new and at this price do not dream ...
In the end I would do if I had the choice to reproduce because in addition to my metal zone I type a directory distortion result.
