JMB-Experience Money for Nothing (M.F.N.)

This is a pedal of a équivallente size to other models in JMB (riff shooter, nitrogen 21).
Two switch:
- A first for the OD
- A second for the "money for nothing" effect: a sort of 'phase' of his ... read more it is best to visit the manufacturer's website.
(Note that these are 'super-switches', without knocking, without poc in short Unlike a switch EHX)
An entry + an output jack and an input power supply standard type boss.
In short an analog pedal as we like, simple and effective.

UTILIZATION

The are super-simple settings, turn, listen and it works. That's probably why there is no manual.

There are actually two pedals in one: an OD and MFN effect. You can activate one without the other.
The knobs are of excellent quality (such as the pedal itself).

SOUND QUALITY

First: MFN effect. To find it, you need a guitar with double, a clear channel amp, and .... about 5 minutes! For fans, this and the perfect tools to play this legendary song.

Second: the rest. That's why I ordered the pedal actually. First, because to just over € 200 in a pedal and then play a song, I find it a little ... weird ... commment say.
In short, the possibilities are immense: we just play with the MFN effect without distortion, adding a phaser, with a boost before or distortion by adjusting the phase. A unique sound is obtained. The distortion is good is accurate, the settings are effective and intuitive.
I have not tried yet combined with a fuzz (a nitrogen 21, for example), nor tried with a low but I will soon do so.

Note that there is no 'plop' in use, no breath, no sizzle to manipulation. It's clean and clear.

I tried on a Engl Screamer combo, with a Les Paul (for once, this is what it takes for sound MFN), a std strat (you can get some nice riffs with a little bit of OD) and Cort mounted DiMarzio (breed and evo) for a more modern sound and take to Steve Vai (optionally adding a phaser and delay).

edict of 8.24: the MFN effect (without OD) works quite well with a fuzz (behind).
And a bass that goes well with the frequency setting down. The distortion is a little too powerful for a bass, but it's usable, and quite interesting! ... Still full of possibiltés to discover.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a few days. I bought it after having a Nitrogen 21 (the magic fuzz JMB) and have completed development on the site of the manufacturer. For now I'm far from having been around but I love the variety of sounds.

I'm not worried about reliability: I have a 21 Nitrogen for some time and it works like a clock. the quality is excellent.

In short: buy CFD, you will not be disappointed. In addition, it is handmade in France (for real), the manufacturer is available, knowledgeable and friendly. What more?

(And yes, it looks like I will leave a notice a little too good to be honest but I have no other connection with JMB than being a fan of their products)

Overdrive + Filter (filter and what !!!!!).

"Ya OD that can be used alone,

- The MFN filter can be used on another pedal or a crunch amp

- The filter has several colors from 500 to 2500Hz, (MFN = 1500Hz)

- The filter with a blend ... button (dosage effect 0 => 100%) "

UTILIZATION

simple and effective.
is turned on and click "Duplex"> BAM!

SOUND QUALITY

MFN quintessential sound but not that ... it brings a plus for solos and rhythm / riff that expands the sonic palette that allows you to create HIS sound.
overdrive is warm, full.
NOT A BREATH!
this is not a gadget pedal.
this is a MUST HAVE

OVERALL OPINION

I for 1 week.
certainly have to pay for it but this kind of effect does not grow on trees.
a stunning look in passing.

Specifications are available on the website of JMB experience, no need to recall them.
But what quality! Never seen as quiet and soft switches.
To be clear, we buy this toy for fun to play the riff from Dire Straits.
But it soon becomes clear that this is also a great pedal overdrive and more.

UTILIZATION

You have to practice a few hours to find the right sound, the settings are specific config stuff (guitar / amp). There's still 6 knobs total, so plenty of setting options.
And the adjustment range is very wide, it is not potentiometers decoration nearby.

No manual, but please contact Jean-Michel, it will give you the right settings to get as close as possible to the fast riff MFN.
Go to perfect it all, a simple guide to setting riff MFN would be nice, even to upload to the site.

SOUND QUALITY

Personally, I use it with a Les Paul Studio 1993 with ebony fingerboard, central location for pickups.
I got the closest to the MFN riff with Marshall JVM 205H head. The pedal settings are slightly different with a Fender Deluxe Reverb.

OVERALL OPINION

I've had a big week. I waited for weeks, like a kid waiting for Santa Claus ...
And I was lucky enough to have one of the first models.
This is the second home I JMB (I also have the Classic 70, also excellent).
The price more than justifies the quality and especially originality.
There's an enormous amount of hiding behind this little box development and work of such high quality, it is paid.
Plus it was invented in France, it is made in France.

I hope Mr. Knopfler will use one day ...
