SOUND QUALITY

UTILIZATION

I tried the pedals in the store with my guitar (Wolfgang US) on a fender amp lamps (a blues deluxe I think), with 2 other pedals: a Blackstar HT-dist and Maxon D & S I wanted to dpart a blackstar because I only see boxes for these pedals. OVERALL OPINION

I possde the pedals for 2 weeks and I am perfectly satisfied. It fits well with my hardware trs (and what I play: Van Halen, Extreme, Ugly Kid Joe, in short all the hard 80/90) and I love his music and his switch MORE. I think she must be sensitive enough the quality of hardware used because it does not transform compltement your sound. She adds gain and sustain and that's exactly what I asked.
So no question of having the sound of the pedals satriani (and personally the better), or turn a combo stack two bodies, but it makes you want to play a good solo and with the pedals and you find smile!
My only regret and not being able to try to compare the vox bulldog ... For next time! Like all purchases prvoyez your guitar and your amp if possible to try it.

I tried it on the clean channel of my new amp, no pb for the lead always impeccable, but for the rhythmic sound, picture is not saturated sound of the amp is much better! Many more basseset potato! I have this pedal for 2 months. Or do I have an ear too perfect or the Vox does not sound what should give. In my humble opinion, having spent two months analyzing it with a Gibson Les Paul, Tele and a Fender Stratocaster and a Jackson finally on a marshall AVT 50, I will derive little satisfaction that sound. UTILIZATION

Very easy to use, it's a distortion pedal with 3 knobs, a pad switch and 2 switches. One is the on/off switch, the other is sort of a boost function.

The only slightly difficult thing about functioning this pedal would be the pad switch, some people may not know what it's for without reading the manual, but it's basically just to lower the input level to match other high-gain type pedals you'd have in your chain.

The more function as I mentioned is like a boost and pretty much just overall boosts the previous settings you'd already have set on the satchurator and add more harmonic content, more volume and a tad more gain.

SOUND QUALITY

This is where I'm a little skeptical. I'm not a big fan of Satch's tone, though I love his tunes. I've found this pedal to be very dynamic as it's stated, pick attack is key to change the dynamics. It also cleans up decently as a distortion pedal. The more button is almost always on for me since it brings the pedal over the top and sounds aggressive but great!

The sound however is where I think this pedal falls short. It's a very bright pedal, just starting with the tone knob at noon I get a very ear-piercingly bright distorted sound, any further and it would become completely useless and sterile. I had to tame the tone knob a lot to balance the sound. This is most likely just the nature of the pedal which is fine, but doesn't suit me, but may suit others that have dark sounding amps. Therefore this pedal is generally too brittle for me. I can see it working well with either a dark amp or maybe a downtuned guitar that demands clarity when playing rhythm.

To me, generally this pedal sounds like a modified ds-1, a more dynamic ds-1, but still has the same general bright character and modern-type distortion. I know satch has been a long time user of the DS-1 and maybe he's gotten so used to it that this has been reflected in the satchurator.



OVERALL OPINION

overall it's a very dynamic pedal, yet very bright. And like I stated before, reminds me of a modified ds-1. Which some people hate and some people love. It's definitely a modern type of distortion, not vintage. However, it still sounds like a pedal, though a very good one since it's so dynamic, but not very amp-like. And I am not a big fan of the overall tone.

Is it satch in a box? Probably. Is it the best distortion pedal ever? no.

I use it for several months, I had been able to compare with other distos the same price range, and I have not hesitated to quality and sounds fab. For cons, the signature is not misused, we will be happy if you like Satriani, typed or saturation. In any case the quality is really there, and saw the bargain price, I think that is an excellent choice. For once I have not had the feeling of paying only "signature". I use it for 6 months, I've had a lot of distortion pedals and I find it interesting. It sounds good, not transistor (depending on the amp of course). It is also well finished and seems well assembled.

The Vox Satchurator is a distortion pedal that was designed together by Vox and guitarist Joe Satriani. The pedal is made up of analog components, with 1/4" connections for input and output. Of course they say that the pedal is supposed to give you a sound like Joe Satriani's, but realistically, that's not possible unless you're Satriani himself. Having said this, I can certainly see the resemblance between this pedal and Joe's sound, as it's a very rich distortion with a nice amount of low end presence, much like Satriani's signature sound...

OVERALL OPINION

The Vox Satchurator is definitely a pedal worth knowing about and trying, whether you're a Joe Satriani fan or not. Certainly fans of Satriani will take a liking to this pedal more than others, but it's a great overall pedal that can be useful regardless of your personal opinion on Joe Satriani. It's probably a bit overpriced, but still not too bad considering the great sound. Definitely a must try for Satriani fans and beyond!
