The Ebtech Hum X is a simple device that gets rid of unwanted noise, hum, or buzz. We've got a few of these at the studio where I work and use them for a variety of purposes, including for guitar amps with too much buzz, microphone power supply, and wherever else we might be getting noise. This isn't a ground lift as it works differently and in my opinion, does a better job. All you have to do is plug this on the end of whatever you're plugging into the wall, and you're good to go. You won't have to worry about a loss in volume or anything like that, which can sometimes be a problem when it comes to using ground lifts. Beyond this, there really isn't all that much to know about the Ebtech Hum X, other than it will do a great job for you. The down side to getting Hum X is that it's not as cheap as you might think! After using it a lot at the studio where I'm working I decided that I might want one for myself so a did a bit of extra research on it, only to find it to be pretty expensive for something like this! In professional studio settings or for other professionals who might need it, it's probably going to be worth having anyway, but definitely be warned that it doesn't just cost a couple of bucks like a regular ground lift will. It's definitely a lot better than a regular ground lift, especially in a recording studio setting where every minute detail really counts. I don't know if there are any similar products out there that cost less, but Hum X is great to have, even if it costs a bit more than you might think it would...
