Audeon UFO

Audeon UFO is a software VST that cost around 125 bucks to purchase it new. They do however let you try the software before you buy it, which is a must for me because I will never buy a VST again without knowing that its good first because I have paid for too many bad ones. The size of this VST isn’t that big at all compared to some of main ones that I use, Its no larger than 7 MB and can only be used on Windows based systems. You can use UFO as a plug in , in whatever DAW or production program you use. Or you can use it has a standalone. The manual for this software is something that I have never seen, I don’t think they even sent one in my email when I paid. I didn’t need it anyways because the VST is pretty standard and easy to operate. All of the main functions of the VST are right on the main screen, there are no big menus to have to go through.


SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

The Audeon UFO works great on my Quad Core PC running Windows Vista (at the time). I have been using this software off and on for about 3 years total. I do not use it as much as I though I would though when I first purchased it. I ran out of sounds rather quickly and stopped using it. But I have never had any freezes with UFO or any crashes. It has always worked great and never let me down.


OVERALL OPINION

The price of UFO is a little more than what its worth to me, it should cost in the range of 75 dollars or so, and not 125. It does work great and does everything it says it can do but I wish there were more sounds. They have not put out any updates and I have not been able to find some more presets online from other users. I do like the software but I think it’s a little overpriced, especially in today’s VST market.

SUITABILITY/PERFORMANCE

Portable thoshiba pentium4 M 2Ghz, 512 MB, RME HDSP Multiface, the synth is very reasonable CPU resource.

OVERALL OPINION

First impression of the GUI:
Not easy to read blue screen, a little too fuzzy and too much contrast for my poor little eyes.
Not easy to find the preset section because it is not defined, in fact, once found can not forget it when it does not matter.

The first sounds:
Very quickly I thought the sounds that you get with the Ozone plugin, we are in the trash, and it is the CRADA.
But here no bit crusher, everything is in the oscillators.
Then very quickly we appreciate the soft filter plustot that goes well with these oscillators is very complete with a 12 and 24 dB and above a transition from lowpass to pass progressive High
and behind is the surprise with the forms that give more originality, at first we do not really know how to use them but the interface is very intuitive it finished quickly by finding things musical.
by chance I stumbled upon the modulation and is immediately seduced by the principle of colored arrows.
It's great and super powerful.
At this point we understand the whole point of the XY display as modulations become vectors, brilliant!
The effects section is simple but effective, no need for complicated with too many effects of sounds already tortured.
Small details are reviewed and the presets that can hack it a bit quickly annoyed by the backup window of presets, that's great to have that safety net but we should be able to disengage, it may be possible but I have not found.
Conclusion:
In fact the machine closest to my filter is UFO Sherman Filterbank I love, amazing sound and yet easy to use.
It feels good to leave the nth copy of analog synth, too much low fat is not the specialty of UFO.
Often produces an original sound should bone up a very complex apparatus or be led by a cryptic machine, with none of that UFO is original, easy and above all logical.
