Simple, traditional and good sounding overdrive effect.
UTILIZATION
It has an accurate and well-defined sound although I use it with a Peavey XXX, even with the all-tube channels of the amp. I have several guitars from Gibson, Epiphone and Lag.
This overdrive adds a specific color to the sound of the tube channels and acts as a real tube screamer with the clean channel sounding very transparent with the right settings!
Stunning!!!
SOUND QUALITY
It has a warm and natural sound with enough gain (depending on the guitar, of course) for heavy metal and enough "clarity" for arpeggios.
It's not comparable to a heavy metal distortion pedal, which I wouldn't be able to use with my Peavey XXX without getting uncontrolled feedbacks and a muddy sound... With this pedal I get musical easy-to-control feedbacks and overtones! Even with chorus and delay effects...
No need for a noise gate.
And still I get the sound of Killing Joke, Motorhead or Discharge...
To be used without restriction with every solid state amp!!!
OVERALL OPINION
It's one of the few overdrive pedals I'm using on stage with my all-tube amp... I have zero problems and a powerful well-defined sound (although my XXX isn't as restrained as an all-tube Marshall or Fender)
I have tested lots of overdrive pedals over the last 30 years!! And only the Ibanez TS9 sounds similar.
I recommend it to beginners as well as pros!!
