Pedal overdrive / distortion modified by Analogman. Here the components are changed to the original, where the price of the change.

UTILIZATION

Two buttons to adjust the level of distortion (gain) and output level (Level). Simple and precise use. No dial tone, you have to play with the tone of the guitar.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound resembles quite closely to my MXR distortion + period rather than an overdrive, but less fat. This pedal is very responsive to attack, very clear to the chords, in the fine nuances. She starts in overdrive to finish on a distortion. As it is difficult to find the distortion sound you want, we are forced to have several. This one is very clean, it can also serve as a booster if the distortion is adjusted to zero. Analogman also proposes to add a diode that lights up when switching the pedal. Mine does not have one, it's not embarrassing. I also have an MXR overdrive, it's not the same thing.

OVERALL OPINION

A very nice little pretty heavy still pedal. We feel the quality of the housing. She is special, as its color, and this version "prepared" is a good answer. The price meets the requirements.

I bought this for me as a clean boost with my Telecaster and crunch to my other guitars.

In my line of effect:

SOUND QUALITY

My settings are used regardless of the guitar:
2 / 3 of the gain and volume at noon.
With the Telecaster, it can boost the volume of clean with a very light crunch if you really attack the strings (in a very nice solo ...).
Lead to a channel, it really boosts the gain, we see the difference altogether, it really gives a grain "70 Rock" '.
Indeed, this pedal is not very neutral, but its texture is quite nice, it amplifies a lot mids and bass and treble makes it less aggressive, more whistled.
With my ESP EC-1000, the 250 allows for a super good bluesy crunch when it is switched on clean, a crunch that responds well to attack the game really well.
The lead, it's downright huge, to make a heavy amp JCM800 this type should be the ideal ...

In short, I really appreciate this little pedal, I thought it would be against by far more neutral than that ... but hey, its texture does not displease me.

OVERALL OPINION

Just fine for the use I want to do ... a bit feeble to be used as a clean OD ...
I think it's a copy of the MXR Micro Amp (although the pattern is almost identical to that of a Dist +).
For the price it's worth (€ 41 on some German sites VPC), there is not too much competition.
Its weak point, the power supply of P ***** format mini-jack ... but hey, it's not just making this DOD, Electro - Harmonix also ...

Perfect!
oh yes I have a ProCo Rat 2 which is crushing bass when I started, that's why I have a preferences for dod pedals but those are two high class!
I compared with the rat's guitar rig 2 and it's really not the same thing, finally biting the roundness of sound in the treble with the pedals, you can look far with numrique ! (ie not found)

SOUND QUALITY

I was really surprised by this little pedal. I expected a good effect, but not something totally top.

I did a little comparison with a boss sd1 japan black label that I own and I put just after the dod.

The sound is very very close to the sd1 but what is even harder is that I find even better! We are in a register that goes from clean to hard rock sound (the greatest example is AC / DC everyone sees what it is.)
The grain is changing depending on the volume and also allows great flexibility in relation to the volume of the amp. (Useful for 100w all-tube, one can raise and lower the amp without a pedal it's mouth while keeping the potatoes)

The sound is "square" very muscular, rich bass has a tendency, when you put a lot of gain, to overflow a little and I must say that this is what convinced me right away. With a wah wah is happiness, back to the 70's with Hendrix. The boost in distortion is terribel it gives a clear shot of a great amp! In short its a very, very, good and thicker than his colleague from home boss.

I also compared this model to the MXR micro amp in my guitar and he has kindly lent me. I find the mxr more "neutral" (in sound and more transparent for the bypass), it is not really made for the overdrive and I found the use of the pedal for this purpose so-so. the boost in distortion is effective but does nothing more than a little momentum. DoD brings a little "heat" I find it more "vintage" can be.

In the end a very good choice!

Both for itself as the overdrive to boost your solos. A pedal that deserves to be recognized under the TS9 and other rat and sd1. In a ruthlessly efficient and robust one worthy of our oldest pedals, a very good choice. for a ridiculous price! (35 euros used)

The DOD 250 is an overdrive pedal designed for use with electric guitar but suitable for any electronic instrument.  It is an analog pedal that has a 1/4 inch input and a 1/4 inch output.  It can be powered by either a nine volt battery or power supply and isn't rack mountable as it is a foot pedal.

UTILIZATION

Using the DOD 250 couldn't be any easier than it is as it only has two parameters in total.  The pedal simply has a knob for gain and a knob for level and that is all of the parameters that the pedal has to offer.  Even though this makes it an extremely easy pedal to use, it does take away from the versatility of the pedal in terms of different tones.  I don't believe that a manual is necessary as it is easy enough to use without one.


SOUND QUALITY

The sounds that are possible with the DOD 250 are pretty cool overall.  While I'm not blown away by the sound of this pedal, it is usable pedal and does have a vintage overdrive vibe to it.  It is definitely better suited as a pedal for live shows rather than in the studio because it isn't all that expensive and can take some wear and tear and is probably best suited for a simple boost of overdrive.  I've used the pedal mostly with a Fender Strat and a '76 Fender Twin Reverb, so I think I'm getting an accurate depiction of what this pedal sounds like.  There are definitely some better sounding overdrive pedals out there, but if you are looking for a good sound overdrive pedal that won't cost you too much money, the DOD 250 will definitely get the job done.


OVERALL OPINION

All in all, the DOD 250 isn't my favorite overdrive pedal but definitely isn't bad and is useful to have around.  I would definitely recommend an Ibanez Tube Screamer over this pedal, but I would encourage those interested to try out a few of the top overdrive pedals out there to see what will work best for you and the sound that you are going for.  The reissue of this pedal is a bit cheaper than the older one, but both won't cost you too much money and are definitely a good deal for an overdrive pedal.
