« The top of the overdrive »
Published on 01/04/14 at 07:01Simple analog pedal overdrive:
- Drive and Tone Volume Knobs.
- Switch LP / HP (Peak Low / High Peak)
- Power 9, 12 or 18V DC.
True bypass.
Alim connection on the side.
Red LED illuminates well the pedalboard when the effect is activated! (Bling-bling!)
UTILIZATION
Configuration is very simple, or too much or not enough settings, intuitive ...
We find what you want without even having to read the manual.
The circuit Tone is "fixed", ie it is set to a frequency (treble) that may rise or fall.
The LP / HP switch also affects the frequency, the LP sounds more dark than the HP.
SOUND QUALITY
I use a Gibson SG P90 and Custom77 mounted with Fender Wide Range pickups.
As I pedal a Xotic EP Booster, which goes hand in hand with OCD in LP / 12V mode.
All that plugged into a JCM800 AND a stereo OR50 ...
I put relatively little gain on 2 amps and I boost with 2 pedals ...
Result: Big crunch with massive dynamics.
The OCD really is THE overdrive pedal in my opinion.
It is very transparent, it will not turn your amp into another and respect the dynamics of your playing but it provides a very small soft guitar is really stunning.
If you have not yet tried: try it!
A high volume, if you have a large room and adequate amp, it really makes sense to him 12 or 18 volts buttocks ... Personally I'll probably buy a 18V transformer ...
His favorite subject is really the crunch for the hi-gain metal, in my opinion there are better.
In my config it is necessary and has its place for 2 years now ...
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for 2 years now.
I tried many other overdrive / distortion pedal:
Xotic AC plus: very good but colder than the OCD.
Akai G2 drive more versatile but if you want crunch ---> OCD
Suhr Riot: too hi-gain for me
Big Muff: less transparent, turns your amp into a marshall (which can be cool by the way)
Maxon tube screamer: really, good dynamic too, but I prefer the grain of OCD is more discreet.
I would try out the Xotic BB preamp that has the same features!
I love the transparency and dynamics: it respects the amp on which it is connected and does not compress the sound too!
Negative: None for me!
€ 180 is not abused for the stuff of this quality!
I would do this choice without hesitation ... The
There has to look at the number of pros who use this pedal ... there everywhere OCD now!
