Published on 01/31/13 at 23:56overdrive pedal by Xotic reproducing the sound of a top boost channel of a VOX AC30. Pure analog handmade in the USA, gain, volume, treble, bass.
UTILIZATION
Configuration very simple, but it takes some time to find the sound that suits us really. bass treble settings are very effective, I personally leave the treble at 14 pm and low 16 H 00, by the way the bass is really great!! no manual, but it is useless anyway on this type of pedal ... I bought used on E-bay to LA studio for 90 euros (25 in sup port .. )
SOUND QUALITY
---- I do not personally know the top boost channel of AC 30, so I can not compare. I can only say that the sound is beautiful, it is very warm and organic. muscular perfect for blues or blues rock, hard rock or even typed AC / DC. I play heads marshall vintage modern amp or 2466 class 5, the sound is already a slight crunch, my gain settings are at 11 H (plugged into a pure crunch already well it rocks!) Volume 12 H treble and bass 14 H 16 H. .. low swell and good sound make it thicker. with a les paul, it's just magical .. pushing a little more treble it gives more edge to the sound ....
----- For the booster function, it works but I do not use it ... I can only say that the volume is very powerful substance, plus 20 db I think, but even with the gain almost mini, the grain is unnatural, and I prefer a real booster (MXR MC401) ....
OVERALL OPINION
I've had almost a year, I am more than satisfied!! in my pedalboard I have several that I overdrive operates according to the desired grain Xotic Ac ... so the booster, and a blackstar HT dual and soon wampler plexi drive .... (being delivered from the states .. ) I had an Ibanez TS 9 before, and frankly, we can not compare the two ... the ts 9 has a different grain fairly typical ... I personally prefer the sound of AC booster ....
---- This is a pedal quite expensive, over 200 euros though! but the price is more than justified (made out to states) and it is well above that in terms of rendering and more MXR Boss .... When you can find it used in the 120-130 euros, c ' is really a good deal ... This pedal really gives a helping boost (gain) and the sound for blues rock, this is really perfect!
