It's been a year since I use is my first controller so I have no basis for comparison.
It is relatively stable, recognized automatically Ableton Live 8.

I note all the same after a year of use, one of the faders no longer transmits the signal correctly afternoon of blow back in service, kick out of luck.

The lighting is very nice touch too.

I still go to the APC 40 for comfort.
