    Tube-Tech EQ 1APublished on 04/30/09 at 09:36
The Tube Tech EQ1A is a parametric EQ in the form of a rack mountable piece of outboard gear. It is an all analog unit, and like all Tube Tech products, has real tubes to power it. The EQ has three separate bands, as well as low and high cut and shelf. It has an XLR input and an XLR output, and will take up two rack space units.

    UTILIZATION

The configuration of the Tube Tech EQ1A is pretty easy to follow once you play around with it a little bit and get used to it. Everything is smartly laid out, and those familiar with with how parametric EQs work won't have much trouble at all. Each band has knobs for gain, frequency, and Q, while the shelf sections has just gain and frequency. T…

The cut sections each just have one knob, and all of the sections have switches to put the EQ in and out. While I've never seen the manual for the Tube Tech EQ1A, if you are familiar with outboard parametric EQs you probably don't need a manual, and on the other hand if you don't have any experience with gear like this it might be a good idea to have it around.

    SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the Tube Tech EQ1A is absolutely top notch. There are plenty of parameters in order to make sure that you have enough control over your sound to do exactly what you want to do. All of the bands and sections are extremely crisp and warm, and this unit really does exactly what it claims to do. The Tube Tech EQ1A is truly a great sounding EQ.

    OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the Tube Tech EQ1A for about a year or so and I've found it to be one of the best parametric EQs out there. The control is there and the sound is fantastic all across the board. I've come to love all of the gear Tube Tech makes, and even though this unit is pretty expensive, it is designed for professional engineers looking to get the absolute best possible tone. I really can't say enough about how much I like the Tube Tech EQ1A, and it is a unit that must be used if you have access to it!
