OVERALL OPINION
Cella is one month that I use. I have not tried other band, just listen. This is what prompted me to buy one. For 210 euros, I do not take too many risks!
It was recorded through a preamp roland octa-capture that only has a gain of 50dB. This explains why for acoustic guitar and voice, the microphone was 20cm from the source, so pretty close.
So, the first voice pil hair that I was looking for! the sound is a bit runny in the lower midrange engaged proximity. He gave the best result on the voices that trunk. The frail voice one can not choose I would do.

For the resumption of electro acoustic guitar amp: the result is disappointing because deaf and draft. May be due to the amp that is generous bass. That said micro was 15cm grid, I'll try later and away more.
Placed in front of an acoustic guitar. The result is a matte, dull can that be used for a guitar in the background. Again it must be cut in the lower midrange to avoid the side "deaf".
That's all for now. I see in the near future to test electric guitar, I will edit as needed to complete ...See less14 - muzikal

This technology is 100% tape with its own characteristics to know well to target its use: figure 8 (grabs the microphone on both sides of the tape, the sound disastrous gaffe), output level lower than the boys dynamic or static and acute weakling compared to a static.
OVERALL OPINION
I used the RB500 and Beyer M160. Listen only making two royer R121.
The notice shall state the previous breath. With regard to Chinese production but in quality control Electronic SE, there may be a model to another, the characteristics vary (case of RB500).
On the output level, unlike the previous opinion, my two models RB500 and crush my M160. At least 8 dB better output level. For recording bass, piano, guitar amp, the sound pressure to moderate, not a fart breath. Of course, for taking an intimate voice, breath appear in proportion to the increase in gain, but will however depend on the quality of the preamp. The Royer are housed in the same boat. In general, the ribbons are not very adapted to capture the voice, a good static still higher.
The most:
- Sound: more accurate than the RB500 in the low (easy), over medium high for the M160 impact. We find the natural texture of the tape. Its increase from a few dB at 12kHz provides air and precision that has not RB500.
Finally, the sound of each face is not the same: the forehead is typed over medium but with a good balance of bass and treble. The rear is more accentuated and significantly more fat, softer. Two sounds for a microphone, following interesting decision.
- The size of a Royer, easily positioned, it changes the big cylinders of the first prize ribbon.
- Construction very decent, much better than RB500, below an M160.
In the least:
-He has not quite the medium / medium low detail almost "3D" Royer and this seems normal considering that prices do not play in the same court. However it has its own color. But according to me, it plays but just look at price differences.
- The serial number sticker that locks.
- Suspension cheap
- Like all tapes, high-quality preamp totally indispensable
A 175 tape boulles pairs, is there a challenger in this price range? To my knowledge, no. If someone has an alternative to offer, I'm interested.See less80 - moosersPublished on 10/15/09 at 17:54The SE Electronics Ribbon R-1 is a unique recording microphone that should only be used inside the studio. It isn't meant for any other purposes and like all ribbon mics, it is fragile and needs to be handled with care. However, the capsule is a unique and is labeled a 'dynamic ribbon' capsule. The mic comes with the shock mount shown and it has a figure eight pick up pattern, meaning it will pick up sound on both sides of the mic.

OVERALL OPINION
I've only used the SE Electronics Ribbon R-1 a few times for recording and I think I've used it enough to be able to say that I'm a fan of this mic. It has an interesting sound that isn't quite like any ribbon microphone out there because of the unique 'dynamic ribbon' capsule. I have used the mic on vocals and on electric guitar and have found it to be a good mic suitable for both of these applications. I have used it both up close on a guitar amp and a few feet back, both with pretty great results. I like the way it sounds because it isn't like a traditional ribbon mic and it gives me a unique flavor. I haven't used the mic for any other applications that I can think of, but I'm sure that I will try it out on some other instruments when I am able to and I'm sure that I will get good results, as this is just a good overall sounding mic. Of course it will sound better for certain applications, but this is to be expected and it is just a matter of finding what will work best for you and the sound that you are going for. The price of the mic isn't cheap as far as home studio mics go, but it is reasonably priced for sure. If you are looking for a sweet sounding ribbon mic, definitely try out the SE Electronics Ribbon R-1.
