«  the best quality / price range »

Value For Money : Excellent
In the range of the new generation of MPC, the MPC is 1000 is it with the best quality / price ratio.

All functionality is present in this model (unlike the MPC 500). The MPC 2500 does not provide, in my opinion, nothing more.

Moreover, it is compact enough to be transportable and not take up too much space in his home studio.

At the pads, no complaints really. The set looks less robust than the first generation (I also have an MPC 3000), but still seems high quality.

The only real weakness of this new generation, it is the dial which, at times, lack of precision.

The real advantage over the older generation is the CF Card, formatted to FAT 32 (therefore, readable by a Windows and a Mac OS).

UTILIZATION

The interface of the MPC 1000 has proven itself. It is really fun to do with her.

In my use, I cut samples of PC, the different patterns of MPC, and I pass on a PC for sequencing.

If I need to add notes of my synth, sampler I prefer the line of notes and play in the MPC.

Large defects of the MPC:

- Export into separate tracks: Can not

- Enregisrement the audio during playback: it would be a more

The advantages of MPC:

- No slowdown, no lag, no crash

- All in one solution, if desired

SOUNDS

Well, I want to say that the sound comes out of the MPC is fairly neutral and that it depends on which injects samples.

Level effects, not much. For my part, I only use three effects: compressor, reverb, and EQ, and used in small doses, they do the job.

For grain, nothing prevents the use of a sampler upstream.

OVERALL OPINION

I bought a few months after its release (red and blue model) and is always at the center of my setup.

I subsequently earned an MPC 3000, but I realized I could not do without the latest Akai, including CF Card!!

This gives me a huge gain of time on my way to work:

- I sample in my PC, I cut, I matter and I mumuse on MPC. If the sample does not work, I start again with another sample ...

- I import several drum kits and I tried one by one live up to getting the right kick or snare that sticks to the sample.

In conclusion,

+ Advantages: reliable hardware, ease of mpc, the effectiveness of CF Card

- Weaknesses: export into separate tracks!!, The memory load
