« A very good guitar »
Published on 10/23/14 at 06:02Made in USA
490R in the bridge / 498T in the neck
Good overall finish, just the Gibson logo and crown (of the head) begin to crackle varnish (mine is 2008).
UTILIZATION
With a Faded SG, the handle of the Standard is better for my taste.
Weight (just over 3kg) is nice when playing several hours standing with this guitar.
Access to acute is easy due to its double-cutaway. I use it a lot for the last string of solos, most difficult thing with other guitars ...
SOUNDS
The Gibson SG Standard is perfect for my style of play that is the rock.
But it is also quite effective in the field of blues.
Plugged into a Fender amp (100 watts mustang 3 V2), the record is good. This guitar sounds as good clean sound with a large saturation.
I play most often in the neck position, the record is very good.
OVERALL OPINION
I use it for one month now, I'm tired.
Before purchasing this little gem, I had:
- Gibson SG Faded
- Epiphone Wildkat
- Squier Telecaster Bigsby Cabronita
- Squier Classic Vibe Stratocaster 60's
It has now become my main guitar.
Varnish, binding around the handle, pins perloid and logo pearl on the head gives a look more "class" has only the Standard Faded ...
Standard comes in a nice hard case with a white wig or should be forced to make it slightly back while Faded comes in a single-bag gib.
So if you want a nice guitar to play rock and the budget allows, do not hesitate, than to take the Standard
