The LP RhythMix Egg Shaker is an inexpensive percussion instrument that is suitable for use in any situation. I've only used this shaker in the recording studio for overdubs. I'm not a drummer myself, but have both laid down parts myself with this shaker and with others playing while I engineered. I have one of these at my home studio, and while I don't use it all that often, it's nice to have around for those situations where I do want to use it. It's cheap enough that anyone can get one, and certainly sounds like an egg shaker. It isn't made of the best material, but for the price I really can't complain. I did have one of these before the current one that I have, and it broke open, which I guess should be expected with these after a while. Either way this isn't too big of a deal as they are cheap enough that you could easily buy a few of them or replace them. LP is a maker of fine percussion, and although the LP RhythMix Egg Shaker is on the lower end of what they can do, it's still adequate for those who aren't going to be using it on an everyday basis or on every session. These come in a variety of colors, although there isn't any difference between the different colored ones. These will only cost you a couple of dollars, so if you're thinking at all about getting a cheap egg shaker, this is a good place to go for one. I'll continue to buy these egg shakers for as long as I need them, but hopefully I won't have to change them out every so often. If you are going to be using an egg shaker often and are a true percussionist, you should probably spend a few extra bucks on something more sturdy, but for those of us who don't need one all the time, the Rhythmix Egg Shakers will do just fine.
