- the warm sound
- the huge attack, especially on rim shots (it sounds like a gunshot)!
- exceptional acoustic power (take care of your ears)
- three-position strainer that allows me to switch between fat and dry sounds depending on the music I play
- Beautiful custom finish
I also tried out a Starclassic Bubinga Omnitune 5.5 x 14 when I bought it. The Starclassic provides the same attack and power (perhaps even more) and it is cheaper, but it didn't look as good as the Melody Master (the name of Mike Portnoy's Signature model)...
