For specifications, has already been described previously, needless to paraphrase ...
The effects leave no dreamer and are mainly there to help, ie if we can replace them with real effects pedals, no hesitation is felt.
However we are still happy to have them in many occasions and they fulfill their role successfully if it is not too fussy.
Some major flaws in legalization of two channels: too low, we can hardly use this knob to the clean channel if we hear from America that breath! bp on the same drive channel, but attenuated.
For the middle EQ, the sound becomes very uncomfortable and unbalanced when it exceeds 9 (- 1 / 4 turn!)
Therefore: the treble knobs are almost always max
we need a little time to get to master the beast and balance it all by himself, which is a shame because the EQ is normally there to be able to shape his own sound and not catch the mistakes of designers.
UTILIZATION
I bought this amp 5 years ago, my conditions were: an amp for the stage, pretty simple, pretty versatile, with its pro (and therefore effective way) and built-in effects (since no means to buy me in addition to the amp, which cost ~ 460 € to time).
The only competitor was the marshall MG100DFX valid, and I made the right choice: MG100DFX is too complex, too conventional and too noisy because of the dedicated fan to spin.
The Kustom QUAD100DFX was at when he completed his task admirably, with power drawn widely enough for any stage effects are often very useful, very good versatility and warmth in his unquestionable.
I doubt cons of the real utility of two channels, the tendency of modern amplifiers to multiply the channels seem futile to me (especially since the footswitch not provided): indeed we can have a super clean sound with both channels!
the only big catch: he farted in my hands today after five years of continuous use (the sound became intermittent), and I doubt a repair is possible, given the difficulty to find the fault!
However, the external construction of this amp is lépreuve bullets and the weight of the craft is to prove it!
SOUNDS
If you really want to know its sound, try it, I can say this:
Its very similar to a tube amp that responds to the attack player.
You can get a very nice saturation on the clean channel at very high volume (volume with a drummer like a little lumberjack) depending on the guitar (I doubt that this was desired by the designers!)
For my part I use a guitar with a double handle very powerful and simple bridge type tele very powerful, all without any marks (great guitar (unfortunately unknown) surpassing power drawn by an LP std, definition and warmth) . I play mainly blues, but almost all other styles have moved at least once with my guitar and my amp so.
Max saturation may not be strong enough for those who want to make music really hardcore.
The boost button should always be in saturated pushed if we want a punchy sound, even to the very low distortion and high volume to get a clear sound.
The HP celestion super 65 doing a good job, no need for the best price, and the fact that they are a couple really gives the impression that it was not fucking with us Kustom ...
Attention cons by everything external output (line out and ext spkr) is pretty rotten, and the CD input (too serious!).
OVERALL OPINION
Very good amp with a sound very warm blues and aggressive for rock and beyond ..
Kustom is always good for the price they demandent.Maintenant, I would rather the "new" Kustom Defender is really good.
The problem remains difficult to quickly find the sound you search when you do not know any of the amp, because of the EQ bp, once past this hurdle, that is happiness ...
Finally, this amp, although designed in the U.S. is manufactured in China, and I fear that the reliability and response of the amp is a bit random, and that if only one is unlucky, the it is not at all satisfied, or very quickly disappointed ...
For my part I am happy for almost five years, but now my amp dumped me ...
