This was the first SS amp I ever owned and I was immediately very impressed by its huge, warm sound, not to mention the powerful, clean headroom this amp offers. I had played tube amps exclusively for 40 years and felt no need or urge to change until I heard a Special 130 in action while on a trip in Nashville. I knew I had to have one after that. This is the most reliable amplifier I have ever owned. Never a problem with it. It sounds every bit as good or better than my old tube amps ever did, as i still own some old Fenders and won't part with them mostly because of nostalgia and the fact that I've owned them for many years.
But, my Peavey Special 130 is my grab and go, main gigging amp these days. It has never let me down.

A novice friend sold this amp to me for 100 bucks US.

Pros: Believed to be one of the best amps Peavey's ever made.

Though it's a solid state, it does a fantastic job of sounding like a tube amp. I put an 8 ohm speaker in there for added depth. Clean and dirty blend well when switching.

Running direct out, the response is extremely transient. Can you say, "spank"?

Works well with Marshall Gov'nor, Tube Screamer, Boss Super Overdrive. Try pedals on the clean channel too!

Reverb on this is AWESOME. You'll never tire.

Clean channel just needs a little air on the bottom end to let it breathe, 4 or 8 ohm.

I've fried speaker coils 4 times over 13 years, but well worth the investment.

Quality, durability, construction: 10.

If you're looking for a reliable combo where you don't have to worry about tubes and still want that sound, and if you happen to find one of these, grab it!

Transistor 130w combo reverb equa simple / light switch is saturated with all that grows 12 inches rickshaw, heads transistor 100w peavey 4x10 cab mounted do not follow!

UTILIZATION

No manual is part and it sounds terrible rock on every floor

SOUNDS

To dedicate to rock and blues with Paul or Start it still sounds good
The clean is ok, but when it's crunch it off without going metal until it goes hard even with a good distortion

OVERALL OPINION

I read an article about him a musician-Texan bluesman Road stating that for him it was the amp
I understood why since and am not ready to part with it

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 3 years
I used several MODELS before making this amp but I needed power, then I was excited 130 watt rms, even tappent drummers who will never like a crazy s' heard more than me
report quality price suits me since I pay 250 euros and I do not know what I mieu for the motivation (I have the power I need and I put a good multi purpose)
If ca is a remake and I have too many pa budget I do it again
