Preamp EQ rack

USE

I have two that I use to be paired in stereo, or individually.
I often recorded in multitrack, and I in addition to 2 vintage NEVE 1073, more colorful and whose EQ are more delicate to handle hair ...
The 9098 is what I use when I do not know what to use.


SOUND QUALITY

Very easy to use, very versatile NEVE subtle coloring ...
I had recently taken for percs overheads with AKG 414, and a nylon guitar that I had my stereo brauner VM1 (micro overpriced, but ... Magic!).
Ultra satisfactory result, beautiful rendering, it works of course with my lamp mics, but the 414 can be very cold and surgical with NEVE, sounded pleasantly accurate with the 9098.


NOTICE GLOBAL

I use them for 3 years.
If you like NEVE, I would recommend as first preamp eq to possess because of their versatility (both with microphones lamp with good transistors), knowing that they keep an important place in my studio while I ' have also a lot of other things in the genre (NEVE, Vintage design ...)

UTILIZATION

Setup is very simple, you plug, it works! And it works really well!
The settings are known as long as one is either already used a preamp section with a egualiseur.
The manual in English is very clear.

SOUND QUALITY

If we find this range in many major studios, it's not a chance.
It has a very good pre-amplification stage, a lot of available gain and wide bandwidth. Section égualiseur meanwhile, is formidable: fine and warm.
In short all the qualities that we demand a pre-amp high-end.

OVERALL OPINION

I use a pair of Amek 9098 EQ for about 3 years and they make me happy in every shot of her, no matter the source!

UTILIZATION

Simple, basic but good manual ... it's pretty intuitive to everything that has already handled a preamp and eq. As against the bypass are at places that are not intuitive .. but you get used

SOUND QUALITY

It's the sound that this unit stands out: smooth and precise. I prefer it to an Avalon is smooth and soft. Here is sweet, but softness. Background noise does not exist.
On the snare and bass drums, it's not my favorite (not enough to attack).
The eq is great, just ...

OVERALL OPINION

For about a year. Bought new in discontinued Thomann, cheaper than opportunities! One regret: not having purchased one two ... it would be better!

UTILIZATION

Use any difficulty if it is used to take for the activation of different bands of EQ, but as said by another post, you get used very quickly

SOUND QUALITY

The preamp is very transparent and fade without surgery. The eq is great (no phase shift even in extreme position) and you can really Scult sound without distorting it (in the bad sense): the short class.
An excellent choice for those seeking a high class transparent preamp (and yes to force any color, there is no spring mix ....)

SOUND QUALITY

Very easy to use, with this subtle coloration NEVE that is very versatile ...
I used them recently on overheads for percussions with AKG 414, and a nylon guitar on which I had my Brauner VM1 stereo (quite pricy, but ... Magic!).
Result ultra satisfying, beautiful rendering, of course it works with my tube mics, but the 414, that can be very cold and "surgical" with the 1073 NEVE, sounded pleasantly accurate with the 9098.

If you like the NEVE kind of sound, I would suggest the as the first preamp eq to own because of their versatility (both with tube microphones with the good transistors), knowing that they retain an important place in my studio while I use also some other preamp EQ in this style (NEVE 1073, Vintage Design CA81...)

UTILIZATION

Simple, logical problem-free handling. That said, it should be noted that a different provision of the consoles, effectively making the use of by-pass less convenient than the latter.

SOUND QUALITY

The return of a signal passing through the preamp is very nice, no weakness can be reported. What emerges is a high accuracy but without the side sanitized or overly pronounced found on some other models I had in my hands.
The eq is absolutely gorgeous, we recover all the qualities of these consoles 9098EQ which this is derived, namely, extreme precision and musicality to none. In this incredible finesse equalizer allows muscular action without losing accuracy. For a more detailed equalization, this machine is just as formidable, the stamps are always respected and the musicality / Precision absolutely beautiful .. Amek quality "by Rupert Neve" you get used to ..

OVERALL OPINION

I use it for two years now, and only live for a lead voice. I Gallery to find and choose a preamp right for me .. I tried moultes models at Avalon, Millennia, Drawmer, Focusrite, API, etc. .. and only this Amek managed the incredible feat of satisfying me on virtually every point sought. It allows me to correct so delicate all the little imperfections of a Neumann KMS 105 without distorting the voice. And yet for this use I have found no better ..

Of course such a quality is not necessarily required in concert, but the theaters are becoming better equipped with a sound more and more careful, that kind of investment is becoming for me a must.
With this Amek and after more than two years of research, I finally found my perfect combination:
voice (female) = microphone preamp = = Eq, but then what way of the cross ..

I'm ignoring you I do not know from which country comes this slice. The finish seems good to me, however, I could not ProCD a disassembly to analyze its components.

There is a gain section with a serrated wheel, flanked by a second potentiomtre rgler allowing extremely fine (works with the first volume pot).

Deuxime a section called filter knobs and handles that could filter Frequencies s'avrer Drang.

A section of a section qualisation low, medium rather low, high and medium rather acute.

I have not seen of DI on the craft. Which is a shame

UTILIZATION

The grip is immediate, even for me who does not follow a professional. You need a good systm of filmmaker to really costing all the subtleties of the craft. If this condition is runie, we can then pass under her.

Just note that all knobs are presenting my resistance a good compromise between firmness and softness. I found them a bit small. Considering the precision of the device, it does have nice to have wheels to facilitate greater precision. That are clearly legible contrl of days, but significantly less in the dark. And that all the elements (eq, filters) can be bypasss. It cleverly done and thought.

SOUND QUALITY

The road noise is easily explained by borrowing. It was a pre-amp teractive, precision dot a loan liquidation and ar full-spectrum color with a fairly substantial signal.

The sound n'tait not covered by this veil dsagrable which sometimes drags on competing products, I would say that even the silent sound of great clarity. On a guitar, the result is always very good. A battery too. On a folk guitar, it's still very good. Obviously, for my purposes, this does not prampli default if it is to be a can onreux.

OVERALL OPINION

I do not know anything Amek. The noise level c'tait excellent and the grip is very handy to use as well. I experienced a beautiful moment with this machine in all cases.
