The FMR Audio RNP8380 Really Nice Preamp is a solid state dual channel preamp. It has both XLR and 1/4 inch inputs, and each has a gain knob to control your level coming in. Each also has a button for 48 volt phantom power, and there are insert options as well. This is not your standard rackable unit, but I have seen a pair of these rack mounted before.

UTILIZATION

The configuration of the FMR Audio RNP8380 is really simple to follow, as you really just need to set your level. The LED metering is nice to have and is helpful when getting a level. It is easy to get a good sound, as the inherent tone is clean. I don't have a manual for this so I don't know how sufficient it is, but the preamp is easy enough to use that you don't really need one.

SOUND QUALITY

The sound quality of the FMR Audio RNP8380 Really Nice Preamp is very good. It won't color your sound at all, and is very true to reproducing your microphone signal. I have used this preamp for all types of applications, including for recording acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitar, and vocals. These are great sounding preamps with a full and clean tone that are suitable for recording anything.

OVERALL OPINION

I've been using the FMR Audio RNP8380 Really Nice Preamp for about two years and have found it to be one of the best preamp deals out there. It is a very cheap price for such a good sounding preamp, and is extremely easy to use. Having the two preamps in one unit is great to have, as it provides you with two channels within one small unit. FMR Audio makes a couple of great products that are ridiculously cheap - this preamp and the Really Nice Compressor. Overall, I highly recommend the FMR Audio RNP8380 to home and professional studio owners.
