Rupert Neve launches the Shelford Series

Rupert Neve debuted his career in Shelford, UK. 50 years later, he pays homage to the town where it all started with a new series of modules.

The Shelford Series that Neve unveils today at the New York AES Convention, combines tradition and modernity, in a series of new modules that emulate the 80 Series (1073, 1064, 1081…) with the use of +/-24V Class A discrete circuits and custom transformers.

The first two modules in the Shelford Series are the 5051 Inductor EQ / Compressor and 5052 Mic Pre / Inductor EQ. Both feature a 3 band equalizer ; the low-frequency band is based on the 1064 module, the parametric mediums are inspired by the 1073, while the high band is a hybrid concept also based on the 1073 and can be set to peak or shelf filter.

The Shelford 5051 also offers a compressor with ratio, threshold, attack and release controls, as well as a post-compressor make-up gain, a FF/FB switch for changing the VCA direction, a pré/post compressor EQ location switch and a bypass/60Hz/120Hz three-way switch for the built-in high-pass filter. Level and gain reduction meters are also present.

The Shelford 5052 combines the EQ to a switchable microphone/line preamplifier with the famous Neve Texture / Silk blue & red control. The module features trim (±6dB), mic gain (66dB by 6dB steps) controls, a continuously variable high-pass filter between 20 and 50Hz and you can choose to send the preamp signal to the EQ, or not, via a dedicated button. An output level meter is also on the menu.

Both modules require an external power supply, Neve lets you choose between the RND 5-way block type or RND 25-way 2U rack version.
