Steven Slate is attending AES where he introduces the new Virtual Mix Rack audio processing plug-in bundle.
The Virtual Mix Rack features 4 analog processor models, two EQs and two compressors. The concept is modular and Slate adds that other modules will be added in the future. Users of the Slate’s Virtual Consoles will even receive a free update which will allow them to link the VCCs to these new processors (more info soon).
Here are the details of the four Virtual Mix Rack modules:
- FG-N: recreates a classic 70's Class A British EQ, but with 2 mid bands instead of one on the original hardware. It can be applied to any kind of audio source (drums, vocals, electronic instruments…)
- FG-S: models an 80's British four-band EQ
- FG-116: combines multiple VCA circuits for a versatile and modern compressor that suits every need (vocals, drums, guitars, bass, piano, synths…)
- FG-401: models a vintage American FET limiter, to which Slate added some home-made tweaks: the output transformer was modified to reproduce the characteristics of the St Ives transformers used in British processors in order to recreate the sound of the Slate Dragon hardware. This module is primarily designed for vocals, but is also works on other sources.
