The True Systems Precision 8 is an eight channel microphone preamplifier. It is simple in make up, consisting of eight XLR inputs and eight 1/4" outputs, with the first two XLR inputs being dual 1/4" and XLR inputs. It is rack mountable and will only take up a single rack space, which is pretty outstanding considering this has eight preamps!

UTILIZATION

Using the True Systems Precision 8 really couldn't be any simpler. Once your connections have been made, there isn't too much more that needs to be done. Each of the eight channels has a knob for gain level and buttons for both phantom power and phase. There aren't any other setting controls available for each individual channel, and on the far right there is a unique peak meter to monitor how hot your levels are. I haven't seen a manual for this so I don't really know how helpful it could potentially be, but I don't believe that one is really necessary.

SOUND QUALITY

The True Systems Precision 8 does a great job of reproducing and cranking up the signal that you send from your microphone. The preamps are absolutely reliable and won't add any noise or coloration to your sound. The sound is extreme clean with a lot of detail and a pristine nature about it. It's astonishing that there are eight of them in here that sound this good, as I'd really expect there to be maybe half the amount in here for this price. There isn't any advanced control available over your sound, but what can you really expect when you've got eight preamps in a single sized rack mountable unit. I wouldn't hesitate to use this on any and all applications.

OVERALL OPINION

I haven't really found anything to complain about with the True Systems Precision 8. It's pretty much got everything that you would want in an eight channel microphone preamps set, with a price that you would expect to see with far less preamps at your disposal. I'd recommend this for both professionals and home studio owners, as this would be a perfect set to have in tandem with your audio interface for home studio owners. If you're a home studio owner looking to give your sound a pristine boost in numbers, the True Systems Precision 8 is one of the first units I'd recommend.
