Behringer UCG102 Guitar to USB Interface

Hi i have recently baught a Behringer UCG102 Guitar to USB Interface, and i was woundering weather you need the earphones to go with it because it is recording, but i cant hear any sound. Also when i use audacity i cant seem to find the correct name for the actualy hardware on preferences. This actually happens with every recording software ive been using. I realy need some answers soon, i have a song competition lined up!
