1 Woodwind quintet and more...
I'm planning to record ww5tet(flute,oboa,clarinet,bassoon,french horn) in near future. In acousticaly good concert hall (no audience), using Roland VS1680exp. Mics won't be that good, I presume (hope not), so for now, some fairly basic directions on classical recording would be much appriciated.
And...I'm playing in a trio, rhythm guitar & vox/6-string guitar benjo/double bass(bowed also), so maybe some advice on recording double bass and benjo, mics fairly good(don't know yet)...i'm trying to get as natural sound as I can get (no FX, comp...)

LP, JBR

My advice for the woodwind quintet would be to try to get a good pair of microphones (small capsule condensers would be great) and to use a basic XY technique (mics are placed so that their capsules are facing each other at a 45 degree angle).
