TopicPosted on 02/04/2004 at 12:16:42Anybody know how to use an MT2X Yamaha ?
Just started home recording wanting to create some backing tapes, for band practice.
Have downloaded a manual but still struggling with it.
Are the monitor volumes controls there for balancing the volumes during overdubbing ?
I am confused about cooosing the right setting for the record select switches:
There is a panning system left and right for to produce a stereo effect which I think I need to adjust at the time of recording ? Although on play back in the stereo mode (via headphones) panning seems adjustable after recording has been done ?
Also a straight through recording system for three of the four tracks.
Are the signal input levels adjusted by the volumes on the input devices
(connected via line output)?
The fourth track has two additional inputs which I'm not sure how best to use.
Thanks.

Hi red!
I'm also new here but I had, a few years ago an Yamaha MT8X.
It was quite simple to use really, but here's a few hints that I hope help you out:
The monitor volumes and outs are for you to level the volume of the speakers out (I used mine as a mixer for live gigs as well) and you can also use the speakers out to listen to what you're really recording (i'm not sure but I think the speackers out give you a balanced mix of all inputs).
the pan is a cool thing. Usually I used to put the tom-toms on the drums with a stereo kind of effect like the smallest to the left, the medium to the middle, and the floor one to the right. Thius way you get a great effect when doing a break.
I don't recall what you asked but I really have to say it was a very simple to use piece of machine (mine was the 8X though...).
Feel free to ask whatever you want and I'll try to remember out to do it.
Good luck.

QWe just picked up a Yamana MT2X and are struggling with it. We are new to recording, have you figured out the MT2X yet the manual we downloaded on-line is hideous.
