Gary Levinson's Blade Guitars has announced the reintroduction of its signature colored oil finishes.
Aimed at offering a decidedly retro look, these finishes are made of ecologically friendly, non-toxic, natural resin oil stains. According to Levinson, the finishes accent the natural structure of the wood by imparting an aged appearance and a silky surface to the instruments, simultaneously enhancing the inherent resonance of the wood—which results in an audible difference to the instruments’ tone.
Vintage oil finishes are currently available on the California Climax in vintage violet, rubbed red, brushed blue and totally natural.
On a side note, Blade Guitars has also announced the opening of its site on MySpace.com, featuring blurbs, blogs, multimedia and more. Anyone interested in the brand can now interact, check out the newest instruments and listen to sound samples of the company’s guitars and basses. Updates on the Blade Brigade – Blade’s endorser and advisory group –, along with their latest releases and tour dates, are easily accessible through the Friends of Blade links. The new site can be reached at www.myspace.com/bladeguitars.
