Made in the Mexican plant of Fender.
Alder body, vintage vibrato, handle larger than the Standards of the time or the American Series. Fairly thin frets.
3 knobs: volume and two tones. A 5-position selector.
With three single coil pickups: short a Stratocaster!

UTILIZATION

This Strat that I owned in the late 90s to early 2000, has a nice finish, finish not ashamed to face than the U.S. models. Surf Green color is successful.
It is, like all Statocaster, light, handy, ergonomic, easy to play, short quite successful.
The technical back for the microphones that are absolutely the same that equip Mexican Standard. If an intermediate position, there is a sound close to U.S. positions that activate only one of the three microphones are not entirely satisfactory. The pickup points a highly acidic character did not like me.
Nevertheless we can still say that this is a great violin detail because this guitar makes it quite reasonable and some change, so that this microphone.

SOUNDS

The sounds are generally good especially as I wrote above, the intermediate positions: microphones handle / middle and middle / bridge. But lower on the other three positions.
Tone selectors do their job but the electronics is not the strong point of this Strat: it "buzzes" a lot. We must practice good insulation cavities mics if you want to use without too much noise positions "micro alone" and a fortiori of distortion pedals.

OVERALL OPINION

I have kept this model shortly despite some changes had improved considerably. I then owned a American Standard, American Texas Special ue, a Deluxe American and Clapton signature. Is it worth noting that the Mexican was well below 4 other Strat?
For lovers of vintage AND handyman.
