Unlike the person who posted the previous review I actually have purchased a Godin ST1 6900 Francs in 1996 ST 1 are the high end of the series model. They are all more or less translucent lacquer red, cognac burst, sunburst or blue, a maple-like bird eyes mesh table with a cream and a vibrato or Shaller 2000 (always sold at 200 Euros each) or a vibrato Wilkinson VS100 disengaged. The ST1 has never been manufactured with a black glaze and a low end Khaler vibrato. If you come across this model is an Ultimate ST2 was sold half price Godin ST1. ST1 has 22 frets and a maple neck rather fine in Birdeyes. The pickups are dual-type Hot rails. UTILIZATION

The guitar is light compared to a Fender Strat CBS 78 or Les Paul. It's pretty balanced. The handle is one of the most enjoyable I've had to use. While on the handle of an Axis Super Sport is over. OVERALL OPINION

I use it for 18 years and I've tried a plethora of models before and after (Gibson Les Paul, Fender Stratocaster, Ibanez Sabre, Leduc ...). The only ones that have convinced me are from Musicman. I have two Axis Super Sport. With experience I will buy a Musicman. But Godin ST1 is a great opportunity if you do not have the means to pay you a Musicman or Suhr that cost three times the price of nine.
What I like about this guitar is its versatility, the beauty of the wood and the quality of the finish. She has hardly bougée for all these years despite many flight hours.

UTILIZATION

Channel super comfortable. SOUNDS

So the must be clear: there is more strat stamp in a classic Fender even if the register is the scope of this instrument. In between, the power is impressive (almost teachers: I use my Carvin between low lights to avoid saturating light) The spectrum is wide: bass and treble are Submitted. In saturated trs is convincing, jazzy singing and happy (not so far from Gibson as a) sustain, more than enough, we clearly moves away from the twang and vintage. OVERALL OPINION

Less than 1000 euros is a bargain. We are in the high end. This guitar has no complex or do about Tom Anderson Valley Arts. It is a quality manufacturing irrprochable. You can do anything with, but she keeps a modern orientation in the sound. A truly beautiful object that almost take on hsite scne!

Much has already been said in the previous opinion. I just want to emphasize that the photo does not correspond at all to the ST1 I met who are much more beautiful: tables with transparent varnish of beautiful red maple on a bird-like eyes with a little cream making around. The bridge is a Wilkinson and not a Pink Floyd as in the photo, and more all acastillage is golden. It's really high-end. In 17 years of loyal service the guitar has not changed and it is a model for holding agreement. The handle is perfect (it has never been easier). The pickups are humbuckers in simple format. The settings are very simple with a split button tone when it is drawn.

UTILIZATION

Channel and access are ideal. The weight is correct. Like the body is a strato chafreiné in the back (but not at the front for the arms). The sound is very well described in the previous comment: a lot of power, humbuckers sound very far from his Fender, and closer to a Gibson strangely. A modern sound that adapts well to a distortion.

SOUNDS

If the dual mode is very good, split mode does not suit me, I use it very rarely. In any case it does not approach that of a stratovolcano, it is more crystalline and light. The guitar gives food for thought for any purpose. Delays react particularly well.

OVERALL OPINION

I have this guitar since 1992 (the beginning of Godin) and I do not part with it. Power, silent operation, the quality of the neck, frets and touch are exceptional. The Freeway and Velocity are fairly close to the ST1 in terms of violin (but not micro). A professional instrument.

A guitar with humbuckers and split into three simple, that has so lived as I had more money in the luthier to refurbish its purchase price but I do not sell ...

I still play it once a week, as each of my many guitars ...
